My dad worked on the Vincent Thomas bridge, as a Toll Taker until He was able to get a small pension to go along with His SS, one day Lloyd Bridges(Commander Cain in 1978) showed up, paid the toll and that made My day when I heard about it.

Well Mr Gnu seems to have the scenic winter shots covered.

This is something a bit different.

My home town has had a lot of problems over the years and one was graffiti on empty shops in the town centre.

It upset an art gallery owner so much he challenged the local graffiti artists to produce some real art.

This is his gallery with the shutters down.




It was unusually closed today so I had not see it before.

This is on any empty shop round the corner.



My favourite is this on on a large shopfornt.



This one is just odd, some in the UK may remember this.



Back before we had 24 hour TV this was the BBC colour test card, which was broadcast during the day!!

There are more but it was cold and wet today so I will keep my eye out for others.

Well, our squirrels are bigger than yours, so there!!

I thought our grey squirrels were exactly they same size as their squirrels, because they're colonising imports from North America. But 'our' true (red) squirrels are smaller.

I think you might have been commenting on the post about robins (though I can't be sure, because you didn't 'reply' or 'quote'). Those are a genuinely different species - all they imported was the name - and I'm prepared to accept the assertion that they're bigger.

Impressive.

Us real men watched the 1953 Coronation on 405 line B/W TV, and listened to radio Luxembourg on 208.

I did back then on my way home from school at a friends house. we didn't have a TV yet back then in our house.

I have seen some of these that the taggers seem to leave them alone after all they know everyone script out there and know who to go after. LOL

I have seen some pretty talented taggers do some great work.

European robin (Erithacus rubecula) - I think Britain is still European in this context.
American robin (Turdidae migratorius) - so named by 1703, a member of the Thrush family. Presumably not so named by the native First Peoples.

Well when I was last in the US I did try and get a picture of the American robin, but all came out less than perfect, but yes it looks most like a blackbird.

As to squirrels, here is one I snapped in Flushing Meadows, Queens, NY



Looks like any old grey squirrel you might see here.
