Many thanks for that, but they will only work with SLR & DSLR cameras with un-screwable lenses. My P500 is a bridge camera with a fixed lens. Nothing is impossible. But sometime the impossible costs a little more. Here is an adapter made for the P500 fixed lens camera. |

The problem with tele-converters and step-rings is they cut the light hitting the film plane by quite a bit, so you need a larger lens aperture, slower shutter speed, and more sensitive film, which lowers image resolution. I'm speaking purely from my background in 35mm photography, so I don't know how digital compensates for this. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

I'm speaking purely from my background in 35mm photography, so I don't know how digital compensates for this. Tele-converters do. They do that because they increase the focal length but obviously can't change the physical aperture, so the f marks on the lens barrel become wrong. Step rings, mount converters and the like don't. That's the physics. Digital can't compensate for physics. What it does is get a noisier picture by turning up the gain. Same as fast film having larger grain. |

Step rings, mount converters and the like don't. I think you're right. Those are just connection conversions, not focal length. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

That type fit onto what would be the filter screw on the lens. You can probably find someone in the UK selling similar things, UK supplier will be in the right time zone for asking, and, from memory there are a few astronomy suppliers in Sarf Lardun Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Or try these guys - they are "fairly local" to you (well certainly closer than the USA) https://www.tringastro.co.uk/ Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Today in the community garden, as it had been raining, I tied to get a shot of raindrops on a plant. I got this with my Canon Ixus . And this with my iPhone 5c If you look, you can just make out the reflection of my phone in the top raindrop. To be fair I brought a set of "clip on " lenses and I am impressed with the results so far. There is a macro, which was used here, a telephoto, a wide angle and a fish eye. If the sun stays out for long enough I will try some of the others out. |

I bought a Canon 1 time but didn't have very much luck with it. it said it had a steady cam on it which to me didn't work very good. My very first Nikon was a gem and was lost in moving here, Like yours, great, sharp and easy to use, Yours looks like I could reach out and get my finger wet. LOL |

Step-downs are a bit less common that step-ups, but ebay, amazon etc. can be your friend Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I have a 102 MM telescope but can't go much higher than 54 power. The moon is about all you can see more than that. it's a orion 102 MM, I like the scope the the rest is heavy. |

@ Chris You mentioned you have a iPhone 4s. What telescope you have, I don't know. This may be a cheaper option to astrophotography. You just have to purchase the proper smartphone adapter for your telescope. https://www.f1telescopes.co.uk/shop/accessories-by-brand/celestron-telescope-accessories/celestron-smartphone-adapters/celestron-x-cel-lx-to-iphone-44s-smartphone-adapter/ |

That is indeed another option to consider. The adaptor is £51 the eyepieces are £69 each. What is the brand name and model of your telescope? |

A lot of these photographs aren't appearing on my screen. Instead there is a message from photobucket asking people to update their account. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

A lot of these photographs aren't appearing on my screen. Instead there is a message from photobucket asking people to update their account.Yes, we can blame photobucket for that - and for the deluge of spam arriving in my inbox, asking me to update my account. I think you'll find that the problem mainly affects the older photographs - recent offerings are all displaying correctly, implying that the uploaders have adjusted by switching to an alternative hosting service. |

Quite a number of folks were caught by PhotoBucket changing its terms and conditions. This change basically said "pay us or you can't share your pictures". I know a number of people relied on PhotoBucket to store the master copy of all their photos, and are now in the process of getting them back, a task that is proving to be less than easy when the account is locked..... I thought the issue was just sharing. The accounts shouldn't be locked, per se. The user should just be denied the option to link to the photo from another site. You mentioned sharing but, again, the accounts shouldn't be locked. ~Sue~ |

One person I know used their account primarily for sharing pics - and it was locked, they are still trying to get their pics back from PB as their account has been locked. They were a heavy user, lots of wild life pics shared all over the place, and PB "got hard" with them :-( Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |
