At the age of abouyt 10 I had my encounter with a barn owl and I tried to catch it.
He very nicely took his claws and latched onto my thhub and it took 2 others kids to get him off. LOL
Man did that hurt! and he wasn't too happy about it either. LOL

Perhaps I should buy me a camera or a smartphone.
Walking our dog leads me to many surprises in the nature.

Speaking of owls, I was stationed in Germany and living in base housing. I had to be at work very early
and, as I left the apartment and reached the bottom of the stairs, I heard a noise down in the basement
area. I put down my things and went to investigate. It was an owl. Someone had left the main door open
and the owl flew in but couldn't find its way out. It saw me and tried to fly away, hit its head on the
"ceiling" (which was the underneath part of the staircase), and landed on a bicycle tire with its back to me.
I very carefully picked it up from behind, grasping it securely so that it couldn't fuss or fly, carried it outside,
and let it go. What an experience!

For anyone opposed to letting ladybugs over-winter inside your home, might I suggest a ladybug house?

I remember the first time I saw one....I was in my early teens, saw this ghostly white bird fly silently out of the trees....frightened the living daylights out of me.. :o) but a beautiful sight to see all the same...

My 5th grade teacher told the class one time she was climbing a tree going to look at a nest but it was a woodpeckers, it went after her poking lots of holes in her head.

@Angela.
I think you pressed the wrong option when chosing to link to the pic.
There are two options.
Copy pic.
Copy pic link.
The second will give you the right URL adress that looks something like "https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pic.jpg"

Maybe a smartphone is a better choice.
The quality of the pics is not so good but you can make videos.
Perhaps for an other thread.

It's not possible, as far as I know, to post videos to the seti threads. You would have to
upload the video somewhere else and post a link to the video. You can convert
a video to a GIF and post that, but it takes some effort to convert the video. I think there
are websites that will do that for you if you upload a clip.

I think the new digital cameras will make videos, but I'm not absolutely sure. Of course,
you can do much, much more with a smart phone.

Any photos you take, regardless of quality, are welcome here. Some of the smart
phones take very good pictures.

Many DSLRs will do video - both Nikon & Cannon are now being used by video companies as their main cameras on grounds of both cost and quality

I have a coolpix and have used video mode on it but have no idea just how long it will record for.
Pretty good camera for the money I think.
Tilt screen is a big plus for me.

Most cameras are limited to about 1 hour recording due to battery life - video recording eats batteries.

About 4 minutes if heavily compressed.
But I do think both cameras and smart phones have much more memory than that.

I'll open the camera and find out just how big the card is

Okay I just checked and it's 32 GB's, I don't know where I got MB from. LOL
