Message 1859380 - Posted: 3 Apr 2017, 19:25:59 UTC

These were the original rules posted when I started this group.

Rules:

Post only original photos taken by you.

Not too big. In inches I wouldn't go much bigger than 8" x 10", but that's just
a general guideline, not a hard and fast rule. In pixels that would be 576 x 720.

Let's keep them rated PG, please. :-)

I'm now adding a line or two:

Occasionally it will be permitted if you post a photo taken by someone you know who
has given you permission to share the photo. If you do, you should say so when you
post the photo. Please don't make this a habit.

Of course I can't stop someone from breaking the rules but, if it happens often, I can lock
this thread. I don't want the thread to become a home for memes. There are a zillion other
places to post those.

Thank you for your understanding.

a cracking x83 optical zoom

That's truly amazing.

I have a digital SLR, but just a wide angle, to medium telephoto lens.

I also have a 35 mm SLR and an 80 - 200 mm lens for it, but nothing comparable to what you're talking about.

What would an 83x zoom lens like what you have be in terms of what I think of as a telephoto lens focal length?

By the way, how do you post photos on to this thread?

You just stick the URL of the image between the Img tags listed above, when
you click Post to thread.

Please don't make your photos too large or they will take forever to load.

Make sure your photos are originals that you took yourself. The occasional
exception is if someone you know took the photo and give you permission
to share it here. Please don't too that too often.

I'm sure Gnu gave you proper instructions in the PM he sent you. At least
I hope so!! ;-)

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Might be worth adding that you take the picture first then upload it to a storage area on the Internet. A popular place is Photobucket, where they supply you with a direct link to copy and paste a picture to a bulletin board complete with all the syntax.

Photobucket also allows you to re-size a picture if need be, usually 800X600 is the largest that will fit nicely on the average monitor screen without scrolling being necessary. If in doubt use 640x480. Upload speed or page refresh is secondary.

Ah...ok Chris...
So I need to do that. I can't do it from my own computer?
Haven't got a photo bucket account.
Other forums usually allow you to upload, just by choosing your image...
Thanks again..

Hold on, something is not right. If I click on your pictures ittakes me straight into your photobucker account. There I can see all your other pictures, some of which my be private. You can't do that with any of mine. Which photobucketlink are you using?

Well that wont do!!

I have deleted the account...even though I had ticked all the privacy stuff..

Update on my issue with Photobucket is that Support has not fixed the problem, but I see comments on their website that other people are experiencing the same issue(which is a pretty big one, lol).
