Thank you Richard, that was a fun ride. Do you by chance have a good picture of the Castle?

Abbey, I think you mean. This was the best I got.

Edit - I could have tried cropping that before resizing it.

Fair point, but it was also mine until 6 years ago. I had the same setup as you but unfortunately when my workstation went down, applied the restore from my home server only to find that the database was also corrupted.

As pointed out to me on the Microsoft forum for WHS, that was the one sticking point until they introduced a further feature to cover that. Too late for me though as I lost 119gb :-(

All now backed up like yours but also on 4 Blu-ray disks.

Got mine on 3 seperate drives and a bunch of DVD's, mine contains part of my dads collection that has been copied from the originals (job in progress), one drive and the DVD's are kept at a separate locations (dads and daughters) just in case (burglary - fire etc).

& possibly for extra safety, how about a DVD or Blu-ray disk?

Well I did at first consider DVD but it would require nearly 30 DVD's to store the 220GB the "My pictures" folder currently is ( there are also a few videos in there), and around 5 Blue Ray discs. I don't have and do not want a blue ray recorder.

So currently they are stored on my main machine, my server and a removable HDD. I will have to hope that is enough.

One can purchase a 1Tb drive very cheaply these days.

I want to remind everyone that this thread is for

original photos, only.

In other words, photos that you took yourself.

Forgive me if I am assuming some of the pix I see today aren't
originals but they actually are. But if I'm correct, please
remove the pix immediately.

Please be honest.

Thank you.

Can you define original a little more? With the advent of Photoshop it is possible to take a picture and process it well beyond reality. That would still be an original picture. Conversely there are pictures that I have taken where I controlled the lighting, exposure, or number of exposures, depth of field, etc to get a look that goes beyond reality. That would still be an original picture. I will try to post a few extremes.

Looks like we have quite a few Setizens who have a good eye for a picture!!

A couple more from me

First "Towers and Trees"

Taken yesterday from the north end of my local park, the tower is called Altitude 25 It even has a wiki!!

This one is the Victorian water tower at the top of Park Hill and actually inside the park

A little info HERE

Finally I was standing in the old pavilion and just happened to notice the sun shining on several spiders webs in the old windows.

"Photoshopped" - or similarly edited - original photos are fine.

Also, memes you've created with your own photos are allowed, as well.

For example, I made this after noticing the expression on one of my
cats when I took his picture.

It seems we have some extremely sensitive people posting here. Or we did.

My post about some pix possibly not being originals, in spite of a posted
apology in the case that I was wrong, hit some nerves. (The apology would
be the part where I said, "Forgive me if I am assuming some of the pix I see
today aren't originals but they actually are.")

Let's all be adults, okay. Let's not look for an opportunity to be offended
and then run off whining.

Sorry that I have to post this here, but I've been blocked by the person to
whom I'd like to explain and, again, apologize. He took his ball and went home.
Shame.

I'll stop here before I say something that really is offensive. Sheesh.

Here's a picture I took from the Tower Bridge in London at sunset.

By the way, I did use Photoshop to remove a crane (building type, not
a bird) from the photo right about where the sun is.

Very nice, Suzie.

Has anyone ever entered a photo in a contest? Kentucky's state fair has a photo competition.

Only silly little contests online like "who has the cutest cat" or
something like that. Never anything bigger, that I recall.

This cafe is located at the university. I don't know if the name's just a coincidence or if it is named after the famous austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger.
