Apparently to him they are liberal/left because they aren't evangelical Christians? They want government control of the bedroom, the normal measure of right in the USA. True they do believe in alms a position of the left in the USA. It is so confusing to use the wrong scale and not the correct one of totalitarian or anarchy. But perhaps that is how it is wanted, confusion.

I've been told by a Canadian friend that there they only do the Protest vote
after the Strategic vote is off the table.
In a riding where your candidate will not win, then that Party may actually
encourage a strategy of voting for the lesser evil of those who may win.
It's a bit nuanced, but Strategic in getting a government that most can live with.
