Boinc v7.6.22 (x64)

Windows 10

Intel Core i7 4790 (Haswell)

3.60 GHz - (4 Cores / 8 Threads,Logical processors)

16 GB RAM

99.99% time used for Boinc

Currently running: SETI, Rosetta, World Community Grid, & Climate Predication

--

For the last week I have noticed that 6 SETI tasks (12.5% - 97% completed) have been stuck on 'waiting to run'; all that happens is existing tasks are completed and then new tasks are fetched and set to 'ready to run', starting when new tasks are required.

However these existing tasks stuck on 'waiting to run' are never completed!

Can someone tell me how I can get these 6 tasks completed? They are all SETI tasks.

If I stop my internet connection and then let Boinc run out of tasks (except these 'waiting to run' task's, should Boinc then complete them?)

It would be a bit of a waste though while I waiting for that to happen (or not).

Thanks for your help, in advance.

If you do nothing BOINC will sort out the order to run tasks and will, eventually, allow the tasks that are part completed to run to completion, within their deadlines. Quite often when one attempts to get a particular task to complete you end up having tasks fail to run in time.

I think you have hit the nail on the head.

All the new tasks have a sooner deadline than the tasks that are 'waiting to run'.

I guess from a processing point of view that make sense to do.

Can I ask another question?

If you look at my profile it does not list climate prediction as one of my projects, just 2 old projects (that I dropped), SETI and Rosetta.

Is this likely to correct itself at some point? Or do I need to do something?

Thanks for your help.

It may correct itself, but only if you used the same email address to create your CPDN account as you have used for SETI and other projects.

If it doesn't rectify itself after a few days, you'll need to have one PC (if you have many) with all the BOINC projects added that you're participating in.
You'll then need to report to each project by doing an Update (especially for those projects that are suspended on that PC).
This will get the CPID (BOINC Cross Project IDentifier) associated with that PC and all projects...and within a few days, you should see all the projects on your S@H Account homepage and on stats websites such as BoincStats.
Cheers,
Rob :-}

Can be also done by "chaining" computers:
   C1 C2 C3 C4 C5
   / \ / \ / \ / \ |
  P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 P6

The above shows e.g. Computer3 attached to Projects 3 & 4
Project6 will not be shown on sites of Projects 1-5
