You got the name right...

It's funny, because he's also done a lot of "serious" stuff too. Ya keep expecting him to make a joke when watching an older movie!

Airplane! also had "June Cleaver" (the woman that could talk 'jive').. She was Beaver's mom in the old 'Leave it to Beaver' show in the US, which many of us in our 40's grew up with!

Then there was Lloyd Bridges "I picked a fine day to quit...", who was also another serious actor... ("Sea Hunt" anyone?)

Airplane! is a move that I can watch again and agin, and pick up something new each time... The good old Zucker Borothers!

OK, I'll take a crack:
comedy Office Space (yup Dilbert is my favorite Comicstrip too)
horror toss up between Cube and Sphere
"date" movie For the Love of the Game

SciFi, I really don't have one. I do enjoy quite a few of them, but not one jumps out as a favorite. Some of the best concepts have been wasted on really bad movies, for example Outland. The technical limitations, when watched today, are extremely intrusive. OTOH, Red Planet, missed it's mark too. Most others I'd rather read the book.

Still looking for something profound or inspirational to place here.

Agreed, Airplane is a very funny and witty movie. BUT, there is one running joke in it I bet most did not get since no one I've asked did get it:

When viewing the 'jet airplane' flying along and hearing the roar of the engines, the engines we hear are not jet engines but piston engines. Propeller engines. Go listen. And that adds to what makes it such a fun movie!

After watching 12 O'Clock High at a very young age and being an aviation nut ever since, no way I'd miss that one. I laughed far out of proportion to the joke. For some reason it just kept cracking me up.

Apologies to our German friends, but the funniest thing I ever saw was on Satelite TV received here in the uk.

The channel was a German station called Sat1, if my memory is correct.
The film was 'The Battle of Britain'.

....and it was dubbed in German!
