Yes, I missed that after preface. Just wasn't expecting a summation after running. My life is a need to edit :) Only problem I have experienced, period, is a failure to run as detailed here, and that only after I got some APs. Pretty great all in all... |

Hello, I found that GUPPI Rescheduler doesn't work for me cause of different version_num between CPU (v8.05) and GPU (v8.01) apps. Yesterday I manually set version_num=805 for CPU and GPU via app_info.xml. A correction of client_state.xml and sched_request_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml were needed too. Your rescheduler gets deceived and transfers tasks properly. Just to say. My life is a need to edit :) Same 'problem' here. ;( |

I have decided to run ALL guppy work units on CPU only. I am putting my GPU to better use. . . Hi Zalster, . . To try and put things in perspective I will point out that while I have one of those gold sticker thingys next to my ID (top 1% of Seti@Home participants) compared to your setup my 3 rigs combined are like a 3 legged tortoise. The competition table of WOW is perfect proof of how exceptionally well your gear is performing so no, rescheduling is not required for you. But saying it doesn't have a helluva lot to offer the other 99 percent out there is a tad one-eyed. For some users it could represent a 50% to 100% increase in productivity. And that is no bad thing. . |

Stephen, If people put as much effort into working with SoG as you have trying to convince everyone that rescheduling is for them, they could get it to work. And as far as the gold badge, it doesn't really require all that much to get it. Zalster Edit. You will should let it drop Stephen. This is Mr. Kevvy's thread, if you want to continue arguing the merits of SoG vs rescheduler, create a separate thread |

Stephen, . . Yeah and we all should know by now that doesn't work. People stick with the thread they are in ... the new thread ends up doing nothing .... I started a new thread and it is totally idle while Zalster who is apparently against rescheduling is writing here in the rescheduling thread dissing it and saying go SoG. If you want your discussion in a new thread take your own advice. But while SoG has a lot to offer, and I have never attacked it, Zalster cannot resist writing messages dismissing rescheduling. If it is not for him fine, no reason for him to pee on other people's parades. . |

Mr. Kevvy; I haven't been following the message boards here too much lately, CMS@Home takes up most of my energy. However, I'm pleased to find your little project and have installed it on most of my Windows and Linux machines with Nvidia cards this week. The effect seems to be worth it, tho' it does need a bit of handholding with regards to how frequently it's run. I'm a bit loth to run it too often on boxen where I'm also running CERN VM-based projects, as I'm not sure we've cracked all the problems with shutting down and restarting the VMs (and their interaction with the HTCondor servers). Nonetheless, I must report an apparent success on my ARM-based Jetson Tegra TK1 Ubuntu system. I copied the files across from one of my Scientific Linux boxes, compiled the C++ code and ran the executable. It seems to have worked! Now to see if the wee beastie will get back closer to the 2,000 RAC it was achieving last year. I think I'll set up a cron job to run automagically, maybe once per day, as I don't log in very often. Thanks. |

Yes. I finally decided to do it. I found a better use for my GPU. Especially one that pays more credits than CreditScrew pays. So I say bring on all of those guppis. I will run them no questions asked. |

As some of you may know, Stubbles69 created a small Windows script to handle front-ending Mr. Kevvy's script. Rob's moved on to other things, and with his permission and participation I adopted his script and have continued to enhance and develop it. What the script, now called QOpt, does, is: 1. Inventory running processes and shut them down if needed or by user request, 2. Perform a verified backup of client_state.xml 3. Invoke Mr. Kevvy's script version 0.51 or higher, and redirect output to a log. 4. Restart any processes identified as running in 1. above Optionally, QOpt also can do the following (primarily for diagnostics): a. Do a verified backup of client_state.xml only, b. Do a verified restore to client_state.xml from a previous backup, c. Support enhanced logging that permits multiple machines to share logging across the network. d. Kill BoincTasks if requested by command line option, e. Kill Boinc Manager if requested by command line option, f. Abort processing if APs are present, by command line option Although I think Rob and I have it pretty well tested, I'd be glad to have help from others who have been running Mr. Kevvy's app (and Rob's 0.2 script, preferably), and wish to help test this. Would like to see it on a wider variety of other machines. Prerequisites are: * Windows 7 or higher, * BOINC 7.x * GUPPIRescheduler 0.51 or higher Any takers? Flames will be diverted to my weenie roast or a moderator, as appropriate (lol) Jim ... |

. . HELLO to all readers of this thread! . . I would like to know if people are using these apps to optimise their rig productivity and how satisfied they are with the results. . . Can I ask you all to reply if you are using them and note if you are using both or just the one. Stephen |

I am using both apps and am very satisfied. The last rescheduler 0.51 from Rob and the latest Qopt 0.49 from Jim who is doing a fine job releasing a string of optimized updates it seems daily.
