Well the result is known & one thing it did achieve is to get rid of the worst Prime Minister this country has had.

The result is going to have far reaching consequences, good or bad is unknown at this time.

The signal is clear! Cut the party politics & treating people with contempt.

One issue I would love to know the answer to...

...with the USA working in secret with the EU regarding TTIP & Britain not having a say or a representative at the TTIP committee should it be signed, will they attempt try it on here?

Maturity, and Extensive Life Experiences. Does give one an understanding.
One reason you normally will not have an 18-24 year old running anything.
Hopefully the Young, Inexperienced and Immature, will learn.

Hmmm. Makes me wonder.
Old people tends to think it always was better times in the good old days.
Especially the days when they was about 18-24:)

Yes it does. And memory of old events always is better than the reality. Only the good and the occasional extra bad is retained. All the normal piss off stuff gets forgotten.

The UK has voted to leave the European Union prompting many social media users to take to their keyboards to post their reaction.

Currently the UK has no single official national day.
But now at last. Independance day.

There is bound to be more.

This is one of the reasons Obama sided with the remain bunch in the UK. #brexit just made the breakup of the USA a LOT more possible.

#Texit

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

I know about Texit but Vexit is new to me.
There you go. Many people around the world want some changes.
Global economy is one thing but that countries/cultures could be sort of united is a dream.
Some would even think it would be a nightmare.

There is no conspiracy!

No need, it was on the cards anyway without anything said by any spokesman/woman.

From Frau Merkel herself "We want ONE political, economical, fiscal union"

To achieve that requires "ONE army" to maintain that fact.

BTW, where was "conspiracy" mentioned?

Fair point, but you should have shown that on your post. By telling me to look & ask questions gave the implication I was a conspiracy nutjob :-)

Hehehe. It's not you I blame:)
The problem is that newspapers or any news media for that matter are biased. And why not?
Daily Express is from what I understand very pro Brexit.

I think I will present some VERY biased reporting from Russia about Brexit soon:)
So far they haven't been worse than the British tabloid press:)
It's true!

Way ahead? There is no way ahead from this point on. In 2 years time, the whole European continent will be a waste land. Life as they've known it on the continent, will be pretty much eradicated.

Ah well, shi* happens.

That was very uplifting:)

With what is being said in the report I'll link to, the way ahead looks to be a dangerous path.

"Greek PM Alexis Tsipras said the vote was "either a wake-up call or the beginning of a dangerous path", adding: "We urgently need a new vision and beginning for a united Europe""

"In all the years I've covered European politics, I've never seen this continent so Eurosceptic or the future of the European Union so uncertain.

The mood in Brussels is resentful and despondent, while governments across Europe are scared.

They feel the heat from angry electorates who share many of the criticisms of the EU highlighted during the UK referendum campaign.

That's why you've been hearing the words "EU" and "reform" of late from the nervous mouths of some you'd least expect, such as Germany's Angela Merkel, and Donald Tusk.

Because they're so worried, the EU is preparing to get tough with Britain over the terms and timing of a new trade relationship.

This is not about punishment - well, not much."

Too late folks & you all know it. None of you had the guts to bring it up. Yanis Varoufakis did & you refused to discuss anything while he was in the room. Any problems now with the EU is on yourselves. You won, you have made Britain the scapegoat for your failings.

MK posted some links earlier. They were interesting. One was regarding the US & UK working on a trade agreement but because the UK was a "member state" the EU stopped it because "only they" were allowed to work on agreements.

Maybe now is the time that the US resurrect that one & give the EU "the bird" :-)

It seems that MK's post is not so laughable after all.

"The same phrases are used in the US on the election campaign trail about Washington. Instead of Brussels, it's the US capital that is provoking this rage.

It is the same kind of disenfranchised electorate that has been inspired by the campaigns of anti-establishment politicians such as Donald Trump and Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders.

It's also an isolationist viewpoint that President Obama has fought so hard to diminish.

The message from the White House may be almost "keep calm and carry on".

But this vote is yet another indication that politics in the US and around the world is no longer business as usual."

Where now for the "special relationship"?

Unfortunately I fear what those youngsters IMAGINE the EU to be and what the EU actually IS are two very, very different things. They've been duped. I seriously doubt they'd vote to stay in a malicious oligarchy.

(And while I fully realize it's Bash-on-Nigel-Farage-day all over the Western World let's be grown-ups for a minute and completely honest with ourselves: Cruz & Rubio are 10 times crazier than Farage... Upgrade that thought using the Trump-crazy-scale and Nigel is anywhere from moderate to progressive!)

So it's not really like all the kids in the US supporting Sanders, which is awesome. But those youngsters are on their own turf & voting for a homegrown politician. In other words they are voting AGAINST an "oligarchy" and they know it. Big difference.

----

Or (to carry over from the previous thread) I fear youngsters in the UK are parroting what Rajoy and half the EUsters have been trumpeting...

But Rajoy megalomaniacally claiming the EU is a paradise right here on earth is a bit like Stalin preaching the virtues of Communism.

(In the Western World we call that propaganda. Sorry.)

In other words the idea (of the EU) may be great on paper, however (like communism) the actual implementation absolutely SUCKS!

Hear, hear!

+1 for your following post too!

That remark of everybody having a "keep calm and carry on attitude" is brilliant in its accuracy and simplicity. And precisely what's been bugging me ever since Lehman Brothers blew up the world economy.
