Message 1835289 - Posted: 10 Dec 2016, 21:18:53 UTC - in response to Message 1835278.

I have two systems that are downloading and labeling work 8.20 also. I haven't figured out how. The other system is still downloading and labeling work as 8.19. All systems have identical app_info files. The app version sections at the beginning of the MB GPU section have both 8.19 and 8.20 version numbers listed for the same plan_class. I don't know how the servers decides to label identical GPU tasks 8.20 on two systems but 8.19 on the other. I used the latest Beta6 Lunatics installer on all systems and selected exactly the same choices for apps. No real problems with the labeling except for messy task ordering in BoincTasks.

. . Have you had a peek in the Slot folders for the GPU tasks to check what revision of the app is actually running on all machines?

Stephen

.

Kind of funny; I've seen exactly the same as Keith.
I've run the same Lunatics installer on three systems, and one shows 8.20, the other two show 8.19.
Windows process monitor confirms that they all run the 3557 exe, as can also be seen through the result links.
Could this have anything to do with the ordering of segments in the aistub files?

I was hoping to see something like you describe about ordering of the segments in app_info. But not the case. Identical ordering of segments across all machines. Who knows why essentially the same symptom shows up on our systems.

. . I take it we are talking about WUs that were downloaded after installing the Beta 6 ?

. . I am no expert (or even close) on the ins and outs of aistub files :(, but it sounds like a good place to start.

Yes, I blow through my 200 GPU task allotment in less than a day which makes the longer than usual Seti Outages a bonanza for my other projects lately. Lunatics Beta-06 has been in play since November. Aistub files are just the generators of the app_info after you make your app selection choices in the installer. They are not in play at all after the Lunatics installation is finished. They could have something to do with the ordering of the plan_class segments based on your app selection choice. Richard might have written them differently between Beta-05 and Beta-06. But all machines are running Beta-06. Generated app_info files are identical across all machines.

Did you check your app_info and app_config to make sure you have the name correct in there? As long as you change the name of the rXXXX exe it will run but you have to also change the name listed otherwise it will show that name to whatever version you say it is... example 8.12, 8.19, 8.20

The Lunatics installer has to cover all plan classes that are actually delivered from the seti servers so no one looses work after running the Installer.
This has nothing to do with the version number beeing installed.
That`s different from stock.

I haven't updated the version number in my app_info in a while. It still says 8.00.
I should probably get around to updating those someday.

Slim chance in Ubuntu that will happen since the Special App is for Linux and Lunatics is for Windows.

. . You should talk to Jason :)

. . Apparently the only thing delaying it is a problem with the unroll function in a Windows environment. I have my fingers crossed that the solution will be fairly easy and quickly found.

Not in "Windows environment" but in app's code.
It affects Linux build as well as would affect Windows one.
After fix Windows build could follow quite fast. That's not an issue cause CUDA itself is platform-neutral language.

What can I tell ya?
Since launching SOG 3557 on my daily driver, it's RAC has risen from around 15K to 19.5K.

If I have interpreted the reportings over at Beta correctly, that is why I am hopeful that 8.22 (r3584) and 8.23 make it into a new Lunatics Installer soonest. You should see a further improvement in RAC along with less inconclusives and invalids.

I have zero invalids. None. Inconclusives have never been a worry of mine, as long as they turn valid at some point and do not become invalid.
