Hi! I have a PC with this features: CPU: AMD A10 7700K GPU: R7 Spectre (BOINC Manager says it). Motherboard: Gigabyte F2A88XM-HD3 RAM: 16 GB @ 1333MHz OS: Windows 7 Professional x64 And I'm curious to add a Nvidia GPU (GT 210 or GT610 or GTX 750 Ti) to compute WUs with both graphics cards at the same time. It is possible? Someone was did it? Or something similar? If is not possible I will add a R7 240 to increase up my contribution. Thanks for read me, and I'm so sorry for my bad english. Cheers! Usually it's possible, but you have to install the drivers in a specific order, if I am not mistaken Nvidia first, AMD/ATI last. You'll also have to read the motherboard manual on how to enable both the onboard graphics and the external graphics card, as inserting a card may disable the onboard graphics. If you don't add a monitor to both video-outlets, it's possible one of the graphics cards doesn't work. You may need to add a dummy VGA in order for both cards to be recognized. It doesn't always suffice to extend the desktop over two videocards. When the two graphics cards are of differing brand or differing strength, BOINC will only use the best by default. You'll have to add a cc_config.xml file with at least these lines: <cc_config> <log_flags> </log_flags> <options> <use_all_pus>1</use_all_gpus> </options> </cc_config> This is saved in the BOINC data directory. |

<cc_config> <log_flags> </log_flags> <options> <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> </options> </cc_config> Fixed cc_config.xml, with thanks to AMDave for the proof read. |

Thanks you all for response. Angeless: Originally I thought switch the GPU in the BIOS (fool idea) to use APU's GPU or to use Nvidia GPU. But, is good idea to try use a dummy VGA to use both GPUs. AMDave: I read that a volunteer wrote that was computing with AMD and Nvidia at same time and that excites me. This is a medium-term plan, so in the future I will share the process of instalation and configuration, and results with the comunity (if someone want to try it too). Now I know how to start this experiment. ^_^ Cheers for you all! Estudiante mexicano y usuario Linux Mexican student and Linux user. |
