q The End is near 2 The End of the Beginning 3 What Next 4 M.I.A. 5 Big Bang Looming 6 Setting Europe Ablaze 61 Setting Europe Ablaze Pt 2 7 The Torch is Lit Too little too late "Mutterings from Portugal, news from Spain, Italian woes and Greeks refusing to bear gifts to Berlin all point towards a difficult summer. But German-driven austerity is becoming more irksome to governments elected to oppose it, and the European Central Bank (ECB) is taking notice, to the dismay of politicians in Europe's biggest economy. But a devastating Wikileak has poured fuel on the fire. It appears to show the IMF pondering a plot to crash the Greek economy." The death of TTIP? Definitely, when we do a brexit, we'll give you the "bird". How's that for a special relationship? |

Vote Leave group seems to have a new partner. Marine Le Pen, the leader of France’s far-right Front National, is considering coming to the UK to campaign for the country to leave the EU in the run-up to June’s referendum. Marine Le Pen ‘has some good qualities’, according to Ukip leader Nigel Farage. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/apr/20/marine-le-pen-could-campaign-for-uk-to-leave-eu-referendum |

Ah, I see he linked his old colleague, Paul Mason's article. As the Mancs used to irritatingly say, "Nice one!". :) Love that he dropped a gazillion other links too. I'll be reading most of those... Unfortunately there's one myth still lingering that even this guy got wrong: It is a north-south divide which boils down to Germany against the Latin countries. Bull. It's Germany against everybody. If someone can find me a single shred of evidence that Germany has done anything but have it's cake and eat it too I'll be more than happy to take note. Or if anyone can show me that Germany has shown the slightest sign of "solidarity" towards, not Greece or Spain or Italy, but the Netherlands, Belgium Austria or Finland again I'll be happy to read it. Good luck finding it though. Pfft... turning the Euro into the Deutschmark 2.0... What a dumb*ss idea. Even Holland that's been playing teacher's pet to Germany since WW2 and had it's currency pegged for most of those years since... was forced to break that peg what? 4, 5 times? How arrogantly dumb do you have to be to think it won't happen again? And what makes Holland think that it isn't gonna get the exact same treatment from Schauble when (not if) it does? And since this is Seti lemme ask you this: What happens if a kilometer long rock smashes into one of the "lakes" (look more like SF bay really) near Amsterdam? This one's too easy: Holland's huge banks and insurance companies get instantly wiped-out. Some random idiot on the net says the rock is radioactive and for no reason whatsoever the Dutch now can't sell a beer, a wheel of Gouda, a hot-dog, or a tulip to save their lives. To top it all off everyone in the country gets to be called a pothead by Merkel & Schauble 'cause that's how those two roll. It's how they show solidarity. Northern block my *ss. |

There is a solution and it has been done by 2 other country's and is mentioned in the article . Bottom feeding the economy . The 2 country's that have used it during the GFC where Chile and Australia and both country's got through the GFC without there economy's falling of a cliff . So the proof it does work is there . |

Hehheehe. A lot of things could be done... But Germany's in hoarding mode right now and hoarding is one of the things that breaks capitalism each and every time. So the more they hoard, the more leverage Schauble has to act like the a*hole that he is. In other words, you may be right but unfortunately nobody's trying to fix this mess. Not really. I have to admit they're doing a fantastic job of pretending to try and fix it though ;) |

As a non-American I can think of about 10 that would make the list of worst President above Obama. I don't think he would even make the top three of worst presidents since 1945. At least G.W. and Nixon would go above him, and you could easily argue that Bill Clinton, Carter and Ford could also be there. Which would put Obama middle ranking since WW2. So, and I want an answer this time not some silly opinion. Justify the statement, "Obama is a known, totally incompetent, idiot." Could it be that the Senate, has been incompetent during this period. I don't even see any idea's from there to counter Obama's plans. It just seems to be "No, we disagree, try again" without putting forward their idea's. |

He doesn't want Billery to have to deal with a great depression caused by the ignorance of the masses in the UK. However when the pound gets to 10 for a dollar after brexit, perhaps that will take some of the sting away. |

The EU is the most transparent, open, inclusive form of government that's been devised in recent history. What I wouldn't give to live in the parallel universe you just described ;) |

I honestly don't understand the glee , the schadenfreude, that some express with regard to a collapse of the EU. The way the EU handled Greece, Spain and Italy during the economic meltdown of 2008 was hardly transparent, it was and still is just plane vindictive and frankly disregarded modern economic theory. That will probably be the tipping point. |

That will probably be the tipping point. That might be closer than you think. <grin> In the 2012 election cycle, one county GOP convention here in Texas called for succession. In the current 2016 election cycle, 22 county GOP conventions reportedly did so, of which at least 10 have been confirmed by the press. http://www.chron.com/news/politics/texas/article/texas-secession-independence-nationalist-movement-7248746.php At least a 10x growth in support of succession in just 4 years, and possibly a 22x growth... The movement is gaining traction, finally, after all these years. Yankee, go home! Long live the Republic of Texas! |

Texas might be rich enough in resources to survive separately from the US, except for one thing Water. An absolute requirement for life, not made easier if the expected population increase happens. If Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico decide to take more from the rivers that rise or flow through their states. And Mexico fights for its share of the water left flowing along the border. Where will you get your water from? |

You seem to forget that the US started with almost a blank sheet of paper, with one currency, and even then decided to use Common Law. The EU tried to start where each county had its own Laws and Rules in place for many years, some of them dating back 100's of years or longer. What the EU has done wrong, in my opinion, was to introduce the Euro, before all countries were working to the same financial standards. |
