Just a quick question... Does anyone know what the criteria is for a GPU to show up on the following page? http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/gpu_list.php

I’m curious to compare my GPU but it’s never appeared. My GPU is quite new so maybe it takes x number of work units before it shows up?

On average my work units complete in about 9 minutes so I think my GPU is fast enough to be listed.

One of the criteria is to have a large enough sample, I think we would find that a Quadro is a rare beast.

Hey Mark,
I looked in my import of host.gz from the end of May and there are only three Quadro M3000M that had a RAC above 2; they are host_id:
- 7977016
- 8008000
and at the time, their RAC was only in the 300s.

So...CONGRATULATIONS, you are the top cruncher with a Quadro M3000M! :-D

If there's a card you'd like to compare your Quadro M3000M with that is on the GPU list, let me know and I can send you the top crunchers from a month ago.

Thanks for the tip about host.gz I didn't know it existed. I'm going to parse the XML into an Oracle database and see what I can find.

Let me know if you were easily able to import it into an Oracle database.
I imorted it into Access but I don't recommend it for host.gz because of the 2GB file size limit.
User.gz was much easier to import.

If you're interested in other projects you might also want to import:

for the CPIDs of the top 100,000 boinc users with a RAC above ~450:

Hi Rob,

I loaded the host file into Oracle. Of course nothing is as simple as it should be... The file is encoded as "iso-8859-1" but the XML contained characters in the range of 128 to 159 (they should not be there). Oracle didn't like this so I first wrote a program to strip them out before parsing the XML.

There were also some very large numbers for n_bwup. Here is a snippet of the first one I came across:

That's quite the upload speed ;-)

I now have the data in Oracle which I can search on very easily.

Glad to see it worked out for you too.
I had similar problems but it was more related to Office pro 2007's implementation wrt importing XML; it was way too restrictive and it kept stopping for the & character in the URLs!!!
I'm assuming it would be easier with Office pro 2010 or newer...but it might have also to do with the file not being pure XML as you noted.

As for the n_bwup large #s, I don't remember seeing that a month ago.
It might be new since I remember looking at the data range for each field...but I might have given up before getting to the last few fields!

Fyi, I had imported host.gz in order to find other PCs similar to mine and I was lucky to find 2 identical one being optimized by the same person!
Otherwise, I would have started to extract the max output for PCs without GPUs in order to determine the max output for each GPU.

Any success in finding how your GPU compares to others?
