I have a gas heater here but in 4 years have never used it, no need the house stays warm.

Playing heater tag w/H&B Mechanical, thermocouple was mentioned, as was the valve, if needed, they'll call back on Wednesday, I had to go to the Doctor today, I came back w/pills, blood pressure and cholesterol. It was 86F in here(3.10pm), now it's 78F(5.17pm).

First I get the car's valve cover gasket replaced, earlier in the month, then the heater in the mobile home goes out. At least the car seems to be working better now. Now for Dinner.

The sky has clouds overhead, no winds for the moment, gusts 2mph, current temp 50.5F, predicted low 37F(better than 23F).

clean the pilot light burner orifice(s) sounds like it is partly clogged (corroded) and not enough gas is getting to the flame. Also check to be sure the valve (usually manual) in the gas line to the pilot is fully open. last possibility is a faulty regulator may not have the correct pressure for the gas, too low. Can't remember if you have said if you are on natural gas or propane. If natural gas IIRC the Gas Company offers a free safety check and light. If there are issues while they can't fix it (liability) they will tell you what it is.

Yes, a pilot can be blown out, but you haven't been talking about howling winds shaking the building. if that was the case it relights PDQ anyway.

I haven't talked about winds lately, but then I get tired of typing, I was self taught back in the 80's on a modified computer(memory and keyboard) by typing in programs from Compute magazine, in Atari Basic. But We do get winds here, down the street is a wind turbine, a small one, Barstow has 2 more that are possibly about the same type, and one that is, HUGE, each of that one blades would fit on 1.5 flatcars...

In any case I'm not in shape to do this, so a pro is being called in, they have to have time to fit Me into their schedule, plus they might waive the trip charge, maybe. I just have to keep the bill to less than $200 total.

What about gas? If the manual button were held down on the valve, wouldn't you smell any?

This model does not have any auto igniter, though I wish it did. For 10 years I had little to no trouble. When it runs, it's great, My oven is ok, but I can't have the oven on all night tonight, thankfully this is the last sub freezing night for this area that is predicted, current temp is 34F, predicted low is 29F, take the low with a grain of dry salt, that could be 24F or so.

The guy here said He has lit furnaces like this with ease, there are more than a few of this type here, and He smelled no gas being emitted.

And the place(H&B Refrigeration) that first came here in November said everything was ok, outside of not being lit, and I paid $75 just to get the thing lit. Me I think something has changed since then, and so does the guy who tried and failed after just over an hour of trying.

Well I have worked on many of them and here's what I find with them.

1. Flame on the pilot is too low and should be cleaned off.
2 The thermal couple is either bad or coated with crap and will shut down.
3 you might have a down draft blowing it out.

these 3 things can be fixed or replaced cheap.

4 gas valve shot and that is a little pricey but they either work or they don't,
sounds like that isn't the problem.

Ok, people have noted over the years that the furnace has a heavy draw making it difficult to light the pilot, today the guy went through 4 to 6 pieces of wood, used a lighter or two, the flame would get sucked out, had to remove the spring loaded door, since otherwise it needs 2 people to do.

Next time I talk to H&B Refrigeration, I'll mention what you said.

I've supposedly got one more night of sub freezing temps, then mid to high 30F's, still no heat, why?

A Coleman-Furnace-Gas-Burner-Control-Valve-Gas-Valve-Assembly that I have seems to not be delivering gas to the pilot, so since November I've had the pilot relit twice, the 3rd attempt was for just over an hour, still no gas pilot...

30 years old, well I called the guys I paid $75 to back in November, I may have to put this on a card, and I also called the capsbc, I'm on a waiting list, most likely a FIFO list...

capsbc is the "Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County".

I'm tired, and I need a nap on the right side of the sofa recliner, the left side is broken and causes My back to hurt if I even sit there, it's now for Grace to use, in a year or two the sofa will need to be replaced with a loveseat/recliner, since that costs less and fits the room better, JC Penney's has one on sale for $750, it's a Signature Design by Ashley® Garek Double Reclining Loveseat with Console , it should be on sale again when I'm ready, right now heat first.

Oh and why cloth? I have a cat...

When I was in Germany 4 of us had to guard a truck load of blank ammo for a week, it was -18ºF daytime and -22ºF at night. we froze our butts off. Temps like your getting is hard to take no matter when. If it wasn't for the wood burner we would have froze. Oh ya and the bottle of Scotch. LOL
