I have been noticing that when my Seti screen saver is showing, it now has "Breakthrough Listen" at the bottom right of it. Of course when I move my mouse -- the screen saver disappears.

What is that and how can I use it (if that is possible) ??

I have been a member of this great project since 1999 and totally believe in it's mission.

When you get a work unit from the breakthrough listen tape, you will get that image in your screen saver.

You don't have to do anything, your computer is already crunching that data.

Is anyone noticing a reduction in their average credit since the release of the breakthrough listen data? I was originally averaging around 26,200 credits per day (running 24-7), and my credit has been steadily dropping (today around 23,000-also running 24-7). I just want to make sure that nothing odd is going on with my system that requires my attention (and that this is what is to be expected with these new work units). Thanks.

Thank you. It seems as though others are also seeing a general 20% reduction (a bit more than me). Just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything wrong with my system.

Does anyone know how well Seti@home users are keeping up with the flow of data from Areceibo and Green Bank? It seems to me that if we have double the flow of data with the same computing capacity, we should have a growing backlog of unprocessed data. Or maybe we had a surplus of computing capacity all along that is now being used. Is there a way to find this out?

You can always check the server status to see how much data is being split, how much was sent, returned and yet to be analyzed.

Arecibo has not delivered very much data this year, which is why we have been processing old data from about 2010 for much of the year.
The data doesn't flow continuously from either source, but comes in batches, so there needs to be a stock of unprocessed data. Also the way SETI@Home works is not time sensitive, so having data for months, or even ears before it is processed does not affect the science work.

Thanks for your response. I guess the flow of data to Seti@home is clumpy and irregular.

Thanks for the link. I looks like there is lots of unprocessed data right now.

Thanks for the reply -- Sorry for the amount of time that has passed since I had asked.

Is there something to actually listen to ??
