Students at California school develop mysterious rash

Health officials in Southern California are baffled by a rash-like reaction that broke out amongst about 30 students and 10 staff members at a local elementary school.

First reported at the Saddleback Valley Unified School District on Sept. 15, the rash has now reportedly spread to Lake Forest Elementary School, in Lake Forest, California, KTLA reported. The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District has launched an investigation and has yet to find a cause, but officials performed extensive surveys on stinging and biting insects that could have caused the reaction. They ruled out mosquitos.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – More Zika-carrying mosquitoes have been captured in Miami Beach, this time in a new neighborhood.

The Florida Department of Agriculture said Saturday that it's the sixth time Zika-bearing mosquitoes have been captured in Miami Beach. It was the first capture of Zika-carrying mosquitoes in two week.

Thailand confirms two cases of Zika-linked microcephaly

Thai health officials have confirmed two cases of microcephaly, a severe birth defect linked to the Zika virus.

It is the first time in South East Asia that the disease has been linked to the condition, which causes abnormally small brains and heads.

Several countries in the region have reported Zika cases. The virus is transmitted by the Aedes mosquito which also spreads dengue and chikungunya.

The current outbreak of the disease was first detected in Brazil last year.

Cases have recently been reported across South East Asia.

Utah man may have contracted Zika through father's tears in unique case

SALT LAKE CITY – A Utah man who mysteriously contracted Zika from his infected father may have got it by touching his dad's tears or sweat with his bare hands, according to new research unveiled Wednesday that found the unusual transmission method was likely caused by his dying father having 100,000 times the normal level of the virus.

The research done by University of Utah doctors and reported in the New England Journal of Medicine, doesn't give definite answers to why the father's levels were so high or why the son contracted the virus in a way not documented anywhere else. But it does offer new details about the events the led to a case that has puzzled researchers.

Congress Finally Passes Zika Funding Bill; Provides $1.1 Billion

More than eight months after the White House first asked for it, Congress has finally agreed on some funding to help fight the Zika virus and study its effects.

President Barack Obama signed stopgap spending bill Thursday. It provides $1.1 billion to use in continuing work on a vaccine against Zika virus infection, as well as studies of the effects on unborn babies, adults and children. It will also help states control the mosquitoes that spread the virus.

HARTFORD –Beef from a Massachusetts slaughterhouse is being recalled after testing positive for E. Coli and sickening people in several states including two in Connecticut according to state and federal agencies.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health and the United States Department of Agriculture said this weekend, meat products sold at farmers markets from the Adams’ Slaughterhouse in Athol, Massachusetts, including veal, bison and beef, tested positive for E. coli. The contamination made two people in Connecticut sick as well as others in nearby states.

At the moment it is illegal to sell raw milk but there are those that are trying to get the law changed .

People can be very silly the reason we pasteurised milk is to stop this from happening as many many many people used to die from bad milk in the days when it was not pasteurised

In fact drinking bad milk was used by females to cause a miscarriage in unwanted pregnancies .
