Hello.

Since i can post nowhere because with my 528.060 points i do not have a "certain lvl" to post in the main forums i have to post here.

I do not get WU anymore and found out that it must be the thing with the new SETI version.

Problem is, i do not know where to look which SETI version i have.
I do not know how to get SETI version 8.

In the download section there is only boinc.

I read people talking in the main forums about "stock" and that if you have stock, your boinc will automatically download SETI version 8.
Obviously i do not have stock, but i could not ask how to activate it, or even what it is, because i haven't reached a certain level of Work Units, so i try here, my question is: how many years i have to study IT-technology, just to be able to get my SETI updated ?
I have to study that, because in all these years you genious people were not able to provide something simple, for idiots like me.

So us helpers can help you out better, could you please post the first 40 - 100 lines of your BOINC start up messages?
Depending on version of BOINC that you have, those can be found either in the Messages tab, or in the Event Log (CTRL+SHIFT+E).

It might be helpful if you posted from the same account you are using to actually crunch data :-)

That way anyone helping will be able to see quicker what any problems are.

Also your actual account

Mark100

Has a positive RAC so you can post in the main forums.

The account you are using here has no active computers so will not get any RAC.

As an explanation, Recent Average Credit (RAC) is used as a way to stop spammers and advertisers just crunching once then never again.

This way you have to be an active cruncher to post on the main forums.

Doh !

I thought it was the same account, never noticed that. I changed at "Markus" the emailadress to my new one, so thought its the old original account that started in 1999 with SETI but it is not obviously.
Problem is, how to i get back into Mark 100 ? All my email adresses i enter when trying to log in bring me to "Markus".

And when i click "account" in my BOINC, i get redirected to "Markus", but as you stated in my BOINC all the projects and SETI also are running under "Mark100"

Well if you look at your Einstein account, under the "Projects in which Mark100 is participating"

If you click on the "SETI@Home" entry, it comes back to "Markus" so you are using the Markus e-mail at Einstien, but a user name of Mark100!!

To at least answer your original questions about stock versus non-stick, this shows that you are running non-stock applications:
06/04/2016 09:02:55 | SETI@home | Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform

You're probably running the Lunatics optimized application(s), and with those in place you are always telling BOINC which applications it should run with.
Which means that whenever a new application is released, BOINC won't automatically download it, but you will have to download & update it by hand.

If you ever feel it's not really necessary anymore and you want to run with the stock applications, that's possible. To do so, exit BOINC completely, navigate to the Seti directory under the BOINC data directory (in you case that's at E:\Programme\BOINC\data\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\) and rename or remove the app_info.xml file. When done, restart BOINC, and reset the Seti project. (e.g. BOINC Manager, View, Advanced view, Projects, select Seti, Reset, (and probably acknowledge)).

BOINC will then start downloading the stock applications and get work for it.

No sorry, i just want to have my signature in my Mark100-account both projects shown, SETI and Einstein, actually it only shows SETI.

Thanks for the explanation. I remember i made something with this Lunatics-thing you mentioned, i think it makes processing WU faster or something ?
What would you say, should i stick with it, or just remove the app_info.xml - file to get the updates automatically in future ?

Checking in BOINCstats http://boincstats.com/en/stats/search/?#Mark100 it could well be that you have multiple accounts there as well.
You did sign up to Einstein and Seti using the exact same email address? The email address is the unique identifier at projects, not your name.

And so when I check
http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/user/detail/3557824/projectList I see this account is busy at Einstein, but for Seti it only has 137 current credit.
http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/user/detail/3330742/projectList is busy for Seti only and has got 527,980 credit, the same as in your signature image.

That points to you having two separate accounts.

And for Lunatics, you need to update the version that you installed.

Have 2 additional questions:

1. How can i make more then only SETI appear in my signature ? Would like to add Einstein there.

2. Should i use lunatics or no ? I even dont know what it is good for. I only know that it seems to be easier to handle SETI-updates, when i dont have lunatics , this true ?

Make sure that you are using the same email address both here at Seti, and over at Einstein. If they do not match, use the 'email address' link on either project to change that. Do check for typos as well.

This change can take 48 hours to propagate to the statistics sites, it won't be instantaneous.

2. Should i use lunatics or no ? I even dont know what it is good for. I only know that it seems to be easier to handle SETI-updates, when i dont have lunatics , this true ?

The default CPU applications at Seti are already optimized, but Lunatics has CPU applications that are more optimized for specific higher processor extensions, such as SSE3 and AVX, which can shave some time off of crunching times. The stock GPU applications and Lunatics GPU applications are the same.

Whether or not you want to use stock or default is wholly a personal decision, it's not one we can make for you. I do wonder though, you seem to have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (2048MB) in that system that you do not use. Why not? It would increase your credit and RAC multifold, even if you run with it only part of the day.

It is very simple to stop using your GPU - go to your SETI@Home account web page, click on "SETI@Home preferences", then tick, or untick the appropriate "use processor" options - if selecting to use a GPU make sure you tick the correct one!

Alternatively it is possible with the "advanced" options in the BOINC manager to stop using the GPU when the computer is busy (for example when playing games)

I love you guys. The GPU is off and its not the problem. Never been. Just a guy with funny brains did not understand that games need the GPU and i explained that to him, that was all.

I just want to get my signature working right.

I know, this all is university stuff and i know there is leftist ideology, fascism and censhorship alive(but they think they are so good and tolerant, they take a bath in it every day, brainbugs), so i have to repeat the problem.

I take part in SETI and Einstein, and i don't know what text i have to enter in my settings in the signature field to have them both shown.

As the user ID gives you someone else's stats I suggest it is possibly a problem with Boinc Stats and you may get a better answer from their forum.

I believe they have been having problems recently.

Also as a note. You can get BOINC to stop using your GPU when playing games. lots of us do. I play Fallout 4 several hours a day, and BOINC stops crunching while I do, when I stop playing it starts crunching.

My GPU (a GTX970) is used for both and my RAC is 11,270

Also all of the people answering your questions here are just crunchers like you, not university staff, so please be civil.

Thank you

I don't know why you felt the need to flame me, but you just did. All I did was tell you that I cannot make the decision on whether to run the optimized applications or not for you, that's something you need to choose. The optimized applications run the work faster, but at a cost of higher heat.
I also asked why you didn't use your GPU, and you answered in yelling that you game. So what? So do I. My BOINC is set up to only allow Seti calculations during parts of the weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday on my AMD HD7870 GPU only. It's also set up to suspend computations as soon as it detects any specified game in memory.

For this I set up the core client configuration file cc_config.xml with the following entries:

With BOINC running at the GPU Activity 'based on preferences', whenever any specified game enters memory, BOINC will automatically suspend GPU calculations within 10 seconds and wait with further calculations until that game is no longer in memory. As you can see, you can specify multiple entries.

The above only stops calculations on the GPU, if you want all of BOINC to suspend - thus also the CPU calcs - you can use the <exclsuive_app></exclusive_app> option instead.
Only the game's executable needs to be specified, no need for full paths. Don't add launcher executables either as then BOINC may continue when the game proper starts and its launcher leaves memory.
For Steam games you have to look in the \SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\ directory/directories for the proper game directories with their executables for the exe name, not use the e.g. steam://rungameid/238010 that will show under the game's shortcut icon.

Now next time you think it's best to yell at the people trying to help you, reconsider. I did read your yelling at me yesterday, but decided not to react.
Now I see you fullly flame me, and decided to set you straight. Just because you don't want to learn all the ins and outs of the program, or because you decided that changes need to be propagated within 14 minutes does not mean that that's how BOINC works. As I already said in my previous reply, changes made to the web sites, going to the statistics sites can take up to 48 hours.
It's also BOINCstats its signature that you have the problem with, so in reality you should ask BOINCstats for help on this, not us here at Seti. Checking their forums I see you're not yelling at Willy. Perhaps it's time you go do so, see how quickly you're told to go away by doing just that.

Never bite the hand that tries to help you.
I no longer will, your loss. Bye.

<cc_config>
   <log_flags>
   </log_flags>
    <options>
	<exclusive_gpu_app>bf3.exe</exclusive_gpu_app>
        <exclusive_gpu_app>bf4.exe</exclusive_gpu_app>

I wrote what the problem was, and you know it also. Now playing the innocent is pure lying. You cannot expect people like it when you put something into their mouth they never asked for or wanted.
I give a shit on your help, im tired of idiots. So feel treated injustice.

I never asked you to meet a decision for me and i never spoke of my GPU because my GPU is not the problem and not the question. You were the one that brought the GPU in and now all think i have a problem with it.
So if you cannot keep respect to people, then better dont answer. I have it that often , so damn often that people talk to you like youre a idiot and when you get angry and answer, they play the innocent. Its lying and coward and cheap.
I dont want to know about your character, and you dont have to care about my frikkin GPU, you dont have to care about anyhting, just leave and never say one word to me and never pull the topic away from the things i need helped with.
You did more dmg then anything and wrote so much.
Better go work in a newspaper. Go and stay gone and never answer to me when i ask something !

And for the rest: i do not know why i should go to BOINC when the problem is, that in YOUR FORUMS i cannot have a signature.
