Could an explanation for having a thread being locked but still visible be given?

Not my own thread this time, should be mentioned.

A silly name does not necessarily make something of no interest.

If you happen to name a telescope or freighter either Pluto or Donald Duck, it most likely is supposed to be going with that name and nothing else.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Duck

Surprisingly enough, this is still the name of this character, even in the English language.

Because of that it should not be possible to confuse Albert Einstein with Sir Arthur Eddington, because you most likely are supposed to know who each of them in fact happen to be.

Threads may be locked rather than hidden for several reasons:

If the OP ( Original Poster) requests it. If perhaps the thread has served it's purpose or is no longer relevant, but might contain information useful to others.

Moderators may occasionally lock a thread if perhaps the discussion has become a bit "boysterious" to allow for a "cool down". Thread may be reopened later. Or like this thread. I have answered the question and others can still read it.

Also if a thread has no new posts for three months then it is automatically locked by the system. In this case the OP can request the moderators to unlock the thread.

As to what the rest of you post is about, I have no idea.
