'twill be around for a while yet ... my computer that died the end of Jan still has 5 WU's in its queue ... the last one times-out 16-Mar @10:30 UT I have a couple MB v7s pending where the wingman has gone AWOL, that won't time out until April. Last several times we transitioned to a new level for either MB or Astropulse, it took 4-6 months to get all the stragglers rounded up.... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Yep, they will be around... Wow, that's significant. 2043 WUs going back to 11/12/2015 including: 169 v7s, 1804 v8s, and 70 APs That computer makes contact every day, downloads WUs, yet processes none. The project obviously isn't suspended, and the WUs aren't aborted. How does that happen? |

If he deletes or moves the files every time the computer is turned on he get at least 100 wu each day...... |

He's probably bunkering the work units... |

My say is ... Why not drop the deadline for processing to 2 weeks instead of 6 weeks to get the MB v7's out of the system at a high priority. I doubt that is too hard to do on the scheduler side. |

My say is ... Why not drop the deadline for processing to 2 weeks instead of 6 weeks to get the MB v7's out of the system at a high priority. Likely because there is no need to move anything along. The v7 tasks will be returned when they are returned. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Could his AV software be deleting them for him? If he has just downloaded S@H , installed and let it run, but is not looking at what it is doing, this may be the reason... Happy Crunching, Graham |

If he deletes or moves the files every time the computer is turned on he get at least 100 wu each day...... That's a committed effort as opposed to suspending, or removing project, or uninstalling BOINC. Also, if BOINC is not set to run when the host is booted, that's even more effort. @Zalster What do you mean by "bunkering"? |

I was wondering how long it was going to take someone to ask. There is a team challenge in 1 day 7.5 hours that is about to begin. Bunkering is the act of collecting as much work as possible but not returning the results to seti once they are complete. Once the event starts, the person returns the data to Seti to compare to their wingmen and collect credit for the work. Challenges run for only a certain amount of time and only the credits granted during said challenge is counted toward the total. So if you return data for credit before or after the challenge then it doesn't count. But if you wait until the challenge begins and then "Dump" all your result at one time, you get a "huge" influx of credit for you and your team that will count toward the final result. And since he's a part of a team that is participating in that challenge then I'd say it's a pretty sure thing he's bunkering in preparation for the event. |

How do you actually stop it it from sending the results? I thought that was automatic. |

Well you could suspend network activity and build up an upload cache. But I see this as being pointless, because when you upload you will get new tasks that the wingman will take ages to validate. Then your validation drops like a rock. |

It is not really hard to corrupt Boinc. I have no reason to, and do not, but./.......... \ There is a lot of room in the Boinc client to fudge things./ Tips and hints, no. I am not going there for you. I get enough crap for just crunching steadily on that I do NOT need that bit of publicity. Talk about a beating........if I were to reveal everything I know about the Boinc client, I would likely be banned for life. BUT...I can tell you that I do not leverage anything I do here. Not one point of credits. I play it straight by the rules, and therefor cannot be accused of any foul play. What I do is all by the book. I know how, I just don't go there. Yeah, kids. Like me or not, I DO take the high road. Always have. Hard way to go, but the right way. They are probably selling 'postcards of the hanging' as we speak. Best brush up on your Dylan, kids. I know one day you'll join me, as you have nowhere else to go. 'Cept to sit on in and have a kick, down on desolation row.' I know you all. I shall expect you here soon. I know you all are listening, out of respect I know. But you're gonna join me one fine day, and shake my hand. Down on desolation row. Meow. It would seem pointless to me to do it any other way than the correct way. If my numbers go up, I know it is because I did somthing right in tweaking my system for better results. I take pride in that. No pride in cheating. |
