I just did a format/reinstall. I've been having an issue with my PC just freezing up and I have to hit the reboot. I know it isn't SETI because I have suspended tasks for several hours and it still freezes with no error.

BUT sometimes when this happens BOINC has lost all reference of SETI. I have to complete re-add it. All Tasks are gone, EVERYTHING. Any suggestions?

Failing hard disk?

Inadvertent overclocking?

I've suffered both in the last few months :-(

Or problematic power supply?
Broken cable someplace that intermittently makes a short circuit?
A broken solder point on the motherboard?
Broken RAM?
A broken CPU?
A hot CPU?
A hot GPU?

Is this a desktop PC or a laptop/notebook/tablet?
How are you set up for cooling, of the individual hardware but also the case?

Just some ideas. All difficult but not impossible to test.
