Try unsalted peanuts. My squirrels LOVE unsalted peanuts in the shell.

Well, I wouldn't think they'd be so picky in the hard times of winter. I have lots of walnuts and wanted to share.

Our back yard blue jays prefer peanuts in the shell over shelled. They will struggle to get the peanuts in the shell out of a wire ring holder we use, and not go for the shelled peanuts in the nearby tray until the ring is empty. (Not my photo, but that is the kind of ring holder we have.)

My jays prefer peanuts in the shell too, probably because they are better for cached storage. Little do the jays know that the crows watch where they stash the peanuts, and then go raid the stashes!!! I think the crows watch the squirrels cache peanuts too.

Crows are crazy smart!

I used to put raw peanuts out. The birds and squirrels loved them.
(So did my dogs!)

My Brother, Nephew and I shared a pair of dogs between us and yet Me tell you, they loved French Fries, sad to say one dog out lived My Brother by 2 months and the other went a few years later. These days I'm a cat person.

French Fries are not good for dogs. Too fattening, too much oil, and too
much salt (if they're salted, which most are).

Perhaps it was when the dish was served in old newspapers.

Oh, that brings up memories. Ferry's Fish Bar in Dunoon, Scotland, 1980-81.
1 large piece of fresh-caught, batter-fried fish, plus chips (French fries) in a wax paper boat, wrapped in newspaper - 80 pence (about $1 at the time). Coarse-ground salt and malt vinegar in bottles on the shelf along the wall.

And a pub down the block that let you bring food in, and played nothing but 1930s & 1940s Big-Band Jazz on the juke box. Spent a lot of my off-time (and money) there during refit/maintenance periods between FBM patrols. And I seem to remember a non-descript brown cat that spent a lot of time curled up by the fireplace.....

@ Grant. My best dog Beefa was 11years old when she suddenly became paralised in the back legs. My best friend, a veterinarian, told me she was too old and arthritic to be treated and I should have her put down. Being a Buddhist with no desire whatsoever to kill any sentient being I was in a huge moral dilemma. But in the end I could not let her suffer any more and took her to the vet to be killed. I couldn't stay and watch. I cried all the way home.I am a big tough man and never cry.

Also you can tell there is a world recession on. Times were when at 6pm when they opened, until closing time, there were always hot cabinets full of cod, skate, rock, haddock, fish cakes, battered sausages, meat pies etc all pre cooked. Now they will only cook to order as each request comes in. That means at least a 20 minute wait. Not only that have you seen the prices??? The days of popping down the road for a cheap family evening meal have long gone. And the fish is only cod and seems to be 60% batter.

Why dont you phone your order through Chris ? Saves waiting 20 minutes and works here in rural Suffolk prity well so 4t what we do here would work in the big city ;-) , surprised you lot hadn't 4t of it hehe
Life is what you make of it :-)

When i'm good i'm very good , but when i'm bad i'm shi#eloads better ;-) In't I " buttercups " p.m.s.l at authoritie !!;-)

A landfill maybe a rubish heap now. But in the future when natural resources are tight. A landfill will be look at like a resource bank to be mined.

Could have to do with food safety regulations or standards. They probably have to toss anything that doesn't sell within 30 minutes of being made, so they don't want to have a bunch of premade stuff sitting around.

I could get into the price issue too, but that would probably take us into politics.

I doubt it. It's mainly to prevent having a cabinet of unsold food at closing time.

More likely not to have a bunch of over dried out product that pisses off the customer who then demands a refund and swears never to set foot in the place again, bad mouths them on the way out and uses social media to trash the place.

I certainly go out of the way for my fish'n'chips to be cooked fresh.

I always pass on the stuff kept in those bain-maries (you never know how long they've been in there).

Cheers.
