Message 2112199 - Posted: 29 Dec 2022, 6:14:31 UTC - in response to Message 2112190.

Self Defense, for a person without a specific occupational reason, indicates paranoia and that is a mental health defect and reason to deny.

Is it paranoia to wear a seat belt in aircraft or vehicle on the chance that it might be needed? It is probably more likely that your home will be broken into while you are at home than needing a seat belt on a commercial airliner these days.

You ignore turbulence. If occupied homes were being robbed at the rate of aircraft flying into turbulence, then you might have a point.*

Also you seem to confuse burglary with robbery. Burglars take the time to insure the dwelling is not occupied before they enter. Robbers want an occupied dwelling so they can get more loot than a burglar can. That means high end targets not average Joe. Finally robbers want money, they are not into sexual satisfaction by murder - give them stuff and no blood is spilled. Translation is stuff worth a life? If you think so then you have self diagnosed personality disorder.

Do some research into the rates of those things you mention, the rates of domestic violence with firearms, suicide by firearm and armed robbery of houses (of business is specific occupation). Put them to the very same per-capita basis. Rank them. Notice anything? If you want some real comparison include drunk driving accidents and also struck pedestrians. How do those numbers look now?

Unfortunately, humans are terrible at judging risk and consequences. Just look at how many people lose on a lottery.** How many idiots speed in fog.*** How many idiots speed on icy roads.****

And far too much of this is being reported these days alone because of a person with a mental health defect leaves these dangerous things laying around for little kids to play with.

Pennsylvania boy accidentally shot by younger brother.

Here is hoping the wet rain here in SoCal will keep the lead rain away in about 4 hours.

In a state which allows open carry, did a person carrying these weapons,

in a supermarket, break the law.

Well is that a state that mandates carry has to be loaded?

Are too many people simply too stressed/impetuous/impulsive/'intuitive' to be trusted with immediately available personal Armageddon?...

The USA (and others) leave to the school playground the necessary lessons on how to agree to disagree and what is important and what is trivia along with anger management.

Virginia is an open carry state. It is obvious that a boat load more guns are needed there so they can prevent this. Send every gun you can to Virginia.

The stupidity of the courts continues.

Trump-era bump stocks ban struck down by federal court.

And it was the only decent thing that Donny did.

I wonder how long it'll take for some fool judge to override this.
