Yes. Thank the almighty God that protect Americans with guns. But I don't understand why there are so many mass shootings in the US though. Make no sense. No sense at all since all these mass shootings is not about self defense.

moomin, I might ask a similar question regarding your homeland.....

https://www.dw.com/en/bombs-shootings-are-a-part-of-life-in-swedish-city-malmo/a-51337737

From DW:

EUROPE
Date 23.11.2019
Author Nancy Isenson
Bombs, shootings are a part of life in Swedish city Malmo

An attack that left a 15-year-old dead has spurred police to redouble their efforts to fight gangs in the southern Swedish city. Bombings and shootings regularly shake Malmo, so much so that locals find it normal.

......At times it seems like Malmo has more in common with Baghdad than with other European cities. This year 29 bomb explosions rattled the city of 317,000 as of November 11. Police reported 50 shootings in the Malmo region by the end of October — in a country where guns are hard to come by legally.

......Violent crime in Malmo has declined since 2017, when a total of 58 bombs exploded and 81 shootings took place in the region. But there's still a long way to go until it loses its reputation for crime.

"Malmo, in a way it is a catastrophe," Moreno said. "But it's also a very beautiful city and lively. It is really different from other Swedish cities and in a positive way."

Maybe if Swedish citizens had a 2nd Amendment RIGHT to bear arms they could at least try to defend themselves from gang violence.

It's true that gang violence has become more common in Sweden with bombs and shootings. Actually a lot only in the last two years especially in Malmö. But for some reason it doesn't in Stockholm and Gothenburg were shooting incidents are becoming less frequently . Do we have more weapons then "skåningar"? Yes. so thanks for the tip having guns but never use them against humans. But how that will work out I have no idea since you cannot defend yourself with guns against gang violence.
But still we don't have any mass shootings in Sweden despite that we have a lot of guns.

8. Sweden

1.68% of mass shootings

Aren’t Scandinavian countries among the top happiest in the world? Well, obviously they have a high gun violence as well. Only in 2017, there were 306 gun shootings in this country, and a study of the period between 1960 and 1995 showed that the mass shootings in Sweden have increased rapidly as well.

I'd say you do have some. Tied for 8th place with Switzerland in the period since 1960.

Perhaps I should say that Sweden only have a few mass shootings that criminals are shooting criminals using illegal weapons. That we other being killed by shooters are almost zero.

Good article JE, however did you read it through?
If you did, there is a better & also a complimentary addition to that teacher. Do you know what it is?

I read the article through, also followed a couple of the links. There are many responses I could make but I'm sure you will elucidate me.....

If it's the link leading to 'How we'll stop the next Mass Shooter' and the contention is to eliminate all guns, we've been down that path repeatedly and as I've stated before, it is IMPOSSIBLE to eliminate all guns from society through ANY type of law. It simply can't be done!

The only way to stop Mass killings of ANY type is to remove the motivation to commit those acts. Which also cannot be totally achieved in the foreseeable future.

A heart filled with evil from whatever source will act in an evil manner irregardless of the type of tool available. Until mankind moves beyond the need to control others this will not change.

There will always be guns, just as there will always be bombs, trucks, cars, boards with nails and rocks. Only the naive think they can stop an evil actor by saying "that's forbidden", and only the naive will not take steps to defend against that evil action.

No one expects to end evil (mental illness) with law. Laws however can reduce the amount and rate of damage and make it much harder for evil (mental illness) to damage.

One could wonder if nuclear weapons were as easy to obtain as guns in the USA. Fortunately they are expensive enough that very few can have them. The discipline needed to get the wealth to acquire one may go a long way to removing those without the mental stability to have one. Elected leaders are unfortunately the odd case.

As I say, buy a tax stamp. No prohibition, just extreme vetting like letting persons in from some countries. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander when it comes to the safety of America.

Armed Citizen Shoots And Kills Suspect Who Ambushed And Shot State Trooper On Highway
Brandon Curtis
Published 01/12/20

TONOPAH, ARIZONA — A state trooper was shot by a random suspect as he was trying to help a woman who had just had her vehicle roll over on the highway.

Described as an ambush-style attack, the trooper was attempting to block lanes of the highway when a man came up and shot him in the chest.

....A driver saw what was happening and tried to come to the aid of the trooper, who was asking for help. The suspect ignored the man’s commands to stop the attack, at which time the man went to his vehicle to retrieve his firearm.

He ran back to the scene, shooting and killing the suspect.
