It seems that the New York shooter got on the wrong lift and then went to the wrong office. More details have emerged after a security guard who blamed the NFL for a brain condition killed four people in a Manhattan skyscraper. .......However, on Tuesday, New York mayor Eric Adams said there was “reason to believe” Tamura likely intended to go to the offices of the National Football League which was also housed in the block. |

Chicago, with the strictest gun control laws in the USA... Interesting, no official statement from the police if the gun was registered / legally owned by someone in the house. 14-year-old boy handling gun accidentally shot on South Side The boy was handling a firearm around 1:15 p.m. in the 600 block of East 38th Street when it discharged, striking his right foot, police said in a statement. |

Hate begats hate. Every sycophant better look over their shoulder. Kirk wrote: "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe." |

The 'God-given' right to bear arms was actually given by the United States Bill of Rights. It specified that the right to bear arms was based on the need for 'a well-regulated militia'., not the sort of absurd, self-indulgent chaos we see today. |

It seems to me, the 'God-given' right to bear arms was actually given in past times, when the society consisted predominantly of rational people, with extremely few mentally disturbed lunatics. |

There's no end to this stupidity. Brown University shooting in US leaves two students dead and nine injured. Two students have died after a shooting in the engineering building at Brown University in the United States. |

I grew up in a country where only police and military forces carried weapons. Only they had the right to carry, but not to own them. When off duty, weapons were safely stored in armories at police stations or military barracks, never in private homes. Policemen used their guns to practice shooting at gun ranges once a year and eventually to relieve wild animals of their pain, injured in traffic accidents. Each used cartridge was registered and documented. State-appointed (trustworthy) hunters owned a few hunting rifles and were subject to close police monitoring. I reject the notion "no amount of... can ever prevent" because I think that's wrong. I've experienced such a high-trust society in my childhood where gun violence, public shootings, terrorist attacks, whatsoever... were unthinkable. It's possible, if there's a will. Some people would have to relinquish certain rights they deem indispensable. Are they indispensable (e.g. 2nd amendment)? Naturally, this came at the cost of restricted civil liberties; and an overreaching government, led by (well-meaning) autocrats, certainly not governed by the rule of law. But there are examples, e.g. Finland, a liberal democratic state, ruled by law, with a vast number of hobbyist hunters owning legal hunting rifles. No known problems with gun violence (which I'm aware of). |

I reject the notion "no amount of... can ever prevent" because I think that's wrong. You can reject the notion, but you'd be very wrong and I wouldn't bet your life on it. Hand guns for private use were banned here in the 1950's, fully automatic weapons were banned in the 1970's and lever/pump action, semi-automatic and firearms with a capacity of more than 5 shots were also banned in 1996 after the Port Arthur massacre so it could've been so much worse if we kept to the U.S way. There is no 2nd amendment or anything like it here. Thankfully only a shotgun and 2 bolt action centre fire rifles were used (the father left the other 3 of his legal firearms at home). The right are not saying a lot about this either as the father entered the country and obtained his firearm licence and weapons while they were in power at both state and federal levels, but they're willing to back tighter laws where only Australian citizens can now obtain a firearm licence (the father wasn't, but the son was born here) and the number of firearms that 1 person can licence will also be limited (talk is of 2-3 ATM). But our biggest problem is outlaw bikie and criminal gangs with affiliations to American, Russian and SE Asian crime groups that do import illegal weapons into the country for their wars amongst themselves. |

Now there's a twist in things as the father has been revealed as an Indian national. |

Who are Sajid Akram and Naveed Akram, the father-son duo behind Bondi Beach terror attack? wrote: [...] The 50-year-old suspected shooter was licensed to own guns in NSW, and brought six of his registered guns to the beach on Sunday, Lanyon [NSW Police Chief] said. Wiggo wrote: But our biggest problem is outlaw bikie and criminal gangs with affiliations to American, Russian and SE Asian crime groups that do import illegal weapons into the country for their wars amongst themselves.Of course, the biggest problem is never islamists but others. Liberal left wing politicians always prefer appeasement instead of confessing inconvenient truths, so as not to scrutinize [potentially harmful?] religious beliefs. Islamists may aren't the biggest problem but clearly those who act most ruthlessly. They only murder innocents... everywhere. Criminal gangs kill each other? Fine. I don't care. I'd just prefer the police would jail them first to prevent innocent collateral victims. |

THE greatest step to Civilisation is the introduction of the Police. That is: A person of the people who intervenes as a third party to avoid disputes becoming violent, and to hunt down perpetrators of violence. Having an environment of gung-ho weapons wielding idiots, makes the Civilizing job of the Police so much more difficult and fraught and deadly. Yes and there's 9 million more people here now plus a lot of those who handed in their lever/pump actions and semi-automatics would have eventually gone out and bought a couple of bolt actions once they got their cheques and new firearms licences. I can tell you personally that the buyback was extremely generous for the 7 that I handed in at the time (3 were mine and the other 4 my departed father's, we were feral animal hunters). That Firstpost news link is wrong, police only recovered 3 at Bondi and then later the other 3 from the father's home, that story was likely taking a police statement that said, "police recovered all 6 firearms owned by the father", as them being all from the same place, which they wern't. That's a fact as live TV news reports here showed the 3 firearms recovered from Bondi before the later raid was shown on the father's house was carried out where the other 3 were recovered. I couldn't even watch the cricket that evening as the whole incident took over all the channels all night. And some people do like to focus on the smaller things than the bigger 1's and it's the bigger 1's that bring in the semi-automatic pistols, pump action shot guns and military style semi-auto weapons into the country to carry out their gang wars or even just turning up at the wrong house to shoot up. Even our state and federal oppositions arn't saying much about it politically because the father was allowed to enter the country when they we're running the country and he was given a firearms licence by this state while under control of the same party and then to make matters worse that same federal party when again ruling had the son under scrutiny for terrorism and let him off the hook. Those incidents all happened under 3 right wing governments (2 fed, 1 state) so don't give me that boring same old blame the lefty line when the right had their chances and totally blew it all 3 times. |

Wiggo, both of us are getting heat, you much more, but because they have to disagree with us as if they didn't they might have to actually listen to what we are saying about a different topic and that we do make sense. It is also strange they they attribute the government of the USA to the government of Australia. Is that intentional or is it ignorance or both? Anyway I see the five idiots of nine are thinking that a magazine is a gun. Time for a little mild civil unrest like Jan 6 to rock their building while they are inside. |
