A man is in the hospital after he was shot after allegedly entering another man’s home in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

CPD officers responded to the 2100 block of North Meade following several reports of an alleged attempted break-in just after 12:45 p.m. on Monday.

Police say a man allegedly walked into a home in the area without permission and was shot twice by the 26-year-old homeowner.

Two off-duty cops robbed at gunpoint in Chicago

Two off-duty police officers were robbed at gunpoint in Pilsen on Sunday morning. And, like most robbers in Chicago, they got away.

The two officers, men ages 28 and 30, were walking in the 1000 block of West 16th Street when four men rolled up in a gray Nissan sedan around 4:10 a.m. The robbers got out, took the cops’ phones and wallets at gunpoint, and then drove away.

In a media statement about the robbery, Chicago police did not reveal that the victims were police officers. The men were not injured during the hold-up.

Cops found the car abandoned with its steering column stripped about two hours later at the scene of an armed carjacking just a few blocks away.

The hijacking victim was driving in the first block of East Ida B. Wells around 1:50 a.m. when he saw five men armed with handguns jump out of a stolen Hyundai and grab a 21-year-old woman on the sidewalk, a Chicago police spokesperson said.

He stopped and ran to help the woman but ended up being beaten in the head with handguns and robbed, according to CPD.

While the spokesperson did not say the Hyundai found at the carjacking scene was stolen from the officer at City Hall, we verified it through police reports.

A fire at an ammo disposal business in southeast Texas quickly spread, rocking the community with explosions and the ceaseless popping of live rounds, firefighters told news outlets.

The fire broke out in Montgomery County in the morning on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and firefighters swarmed the scene, according to the Magnolia Fire Department, which arrived to assist county emergency services.

Photos shared by the department show a white sheet metal building engulfed in flames, a thick cloud of smoke billowing out as fire engines spray water from a safe distance.

Many residents could hear and feel the explosions.

“It was a big enough boom the house shook,” one resident said.

“There were five explosions that shook the ground, as I live nearby it was scary, you could hear [ammo] going off,” a resident said on Facebook.

“My husband works around the corner and was seeing it and ammo was flying everywhere,” said another.
