So in other words, no straight answer and no matter what the subject you'll defend stupidity while attacking sensible solutions Clyde?

Clyde, what will be your comments be should your daughter-in-law & grandchildren be fatally injured in a mass shooting by a whacko?

I can't speak for Clyde but my comments would be the same as I have already made. If they have been allowed the freedom to defend themselves then it is a tragedy. If they have been denied that freedom then they have been effectively murdered by the fools that confiscated their weapons.

All of my sisters and my brother are armed, trained and experienced in the handling of firearms for self defense and they understand that training and experience in no way guarantees they will not be injured or killed in such an event.........but most importantly they will not go down without trying to do something or expecting the cavalry to ride to the rescue. They understand self reliance and the concept that they alone are responsible for their personal safety and not rely on some fairy-tale belief that a 'gun free society ' can be achieved by a legislative body.

B/S.
Your & your family's weapons would have been of little use in situations such as the Las Vegas shooting last year.
Come up with a more sensible & responsible reply next time!

Come up with more sensible and responsible questions instead of your normal tripe.

You don't like the answer......too bad. The Las Vegas type of attack has happened exactly twice since records have been kept, the first being the U of Texas clock tower sniper in 1968.

Here's one for you....What would be your comment if your family were struck and fatally injured by a meteorite?

Same basic probability.

Tell us, how can you & your family protect yourselves with your weapons from a sniper?
Walk the streets carrying an AR-15?
That AR-15 won't save you from a sniper that has you in his sights.

Doesn't want to admit that a trained armed person who is after him will always win because of the element of surprise. It is only untrained can't hit the broad side of a barn attackers who aren't interested in surprise that can be defend against with an offensive weapon.

OBW doesn't body armor work fairly well against many attacks? Seems like less expensive and far less chance of injuring others by error.

That's still up for thought.
They "ALL" think they won't get caught.

I was always taught:
Don't pull a gun unless your going to shoot.
Don't shoot unless your going to kill.

So far I haven't had to pull a gun..and hope during peace I won't have to.

Most never are, but we don't hear about them. Or ask a cop what percent of burglaries are solved. Answer is near zero. Only when they continue for a long time do they make enough little mistakes to get caught - or random bad luck gets them.

I was always taught:
Don't pull a gun unless your going to shoot.
Don't shoot unless your going to kill.
I was taught don't pull your gun unless you intend on killing.
Don't pull the trigger until you have no other choice.

Absolutely, on humans. (Food and clay pigeons excepted.)

Yeah, they are. And those who choose to shoot up a Walmart, or Church, or Theater, or School..............are also Cowards. Because they've chosen a 'Gun Free Zone' (oxymoron if there ever was one), instead of a Police Station or other likely to be armed venue.

They think they won't be confronted and have to take return fire. Wayne LaPierre does not speak for me but he is correct in one statement he made...."The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun". Whether that good guy is a police officer, or security guard or private citizens who choose to be armed and defend themselves makes no material difference in the final accounting.

Cowards avoid confrontation and would rather 'shoot fish in a barrel' ...........I choose not to be a fish whether that becomes PC or not.

Illegal and murderous gun owners and real Patriots do have one thing in common..........neither will willingly give up their gun, but for very different reasons.

Yep, they'd rather keep on with their barbarous way than step on up to a higher level of purpose.

See the reality is simple, but NRA's wont think it though.
NRA Spout, if guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.
NRAer brain, I'll never give up my gun.
(NRA's know themselves)

Reality, NRA's are outlaws, because they will keep their guns when outlawed.

So to reduce crime in America all NRA members need to be put into cages. Proactive enforcement.

Simple. ;-)

Frankly the mental defect of the paranoia so extreme that there is an overwhelming need to have a gun to protect against imaginary threats should be listed in DSM 5 and therefore be a disabling mental crazy condition preventing gun ownership.
The NRA knows itself, it just can't admit it to itself.

When there is a specific threat for protection, e.g. Police Officer, that is not an imaginary general threat.
When there is a specific need, e.g. Livestock control, that is a real reason.
General fear is not a reason, it is a symptom of a mental disease or defect.

Most mass shooters in the U.S. acquired the weapons they used legally because there was nothing in their backgrounds to disqualify them, according to James Alan Fox, a criminologist with Northeastern University who has studied mass shootings for decades.

But in several attacks in recent years gunmen acquired weapons as a result of mistakes, lack of follow-through or gaps in federal and state law.

Despite the El Paso shooting - Texas relieves gun laws
https://www.svt.se/nyheter/utrikes/trots-el-paso-skjutningen-texas-lattar-pa-vapenlagarna
A new law from September 1 means that Texas residents do not have to ask permission to bring guns into the church.
"I pray that I don't have to use it, but the development is very worrying," says congregation member David Nesselrode.
The pastor of the church, who is himself armed, is okay with the members of the church carrying weapons.
"I'm rather overly cautious than a disaster happens," says Reagan Cooksey.
Jeez...

As the N.Z. firearm hand in passes 19,000 weapons the government moves to step 2.

Government's tighter gun laws include register to track firearms and new offences and penalties.

Firearms register announced as part of Government's second tranche of gun law reforms.

Also from what my KIwi friends across the ditch tell me is that there's very little opposition to these new laws, even less than was here.

Is the gun mood in the USA slowly changing?

Or is this merely the cold commercial result of oversupply and the shooting gallery already being overcrowded (over-killed)?

Colt suspends AR-15 rifle production for civilians

.... Colt says it remains committed to the right to bear arms, but that the US market is already saturated with similar weapons...

School shootings: Sandy Hook parents' haunting video warning

... It starts out normally enough, with kids showing off their new bags and snazzy folders.

The mood shifts, when one boy puts on his headphones and fails to see people behind him running from gun shots...

... This year, by 19 September - the 263 day of the year - there had been 302 mass shootings in the US, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

If the current trend continues, 2019 is set to be the first year since 2016 with an average of more than one mass shooting a day...

... Mark Barden, co-founder of Sandy Hook Promise, says he refuses to accept school shootings as "our new normal". "This is what our kids are having to think about now, and they shouldn't be. There is nothing normal about kids being shot, being hunted in their school."
