List of massacres in Australia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massacres_in_Australia

Yep and just 9 listed there since 2000 (the year us Aussies finally woke up) of which only 4 involved firearms, 3 by arson, 1 blunt instrument and 1 knife attack.

Now when will you guys wake up to the facts?

Cheers.

I heard the other night that America wipes out about thirty thousand
people a year in gun death. Think if that number was Ebola deaths...

Yes, the latest available data from the CDC lists (2013) reports 33,636 deaths due to firearms.

BUT...

21,175 of these deaths were SUICIDE.

Only 11,208 of these deaths were homicide. This is only a rate of 3.1 per 100,000 people.

http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr64/nvsr64_02.pdf#page=84

Table 18, page 84.

In contrast, 56,979 died of either influenza or pneumonia.

Source: same as above. Table 10, page 40.

Gee I wonder how successful them folks would be using say, rutabagas?

edit:
I can see it now, the samurai commits seppuku with, wait for it... a rutabaga!
Ah so!

Answer: They don't work and can't guarantee everyone's safety.

MK neither does everyone owning a gun stop murder but you can stop MASS murder

Assault rifles are the weapon off choice not a Glock , or hunting rifle .

The Idea is not to get rid off all guns only the weapon of MASS murder.

Remember he did not only have a hand gun it was the Assault rile that killed the people.

Even what Trump says about if very one hand a gun it would have stopped it B/S

A night club where Alcohol is being served would have ended up in frequent murders out of anger . where Alcohol is served you already have frequent fight so Trump is wrong and only a idiot would believe his B/S

You have to do something MK this guys has injured and killed almost as many as the Paris attack and yet they had AK's he had the latest Assault rifle there where 6 of them there was 1 of him ,that says something mate

A weapon such as a large magazine semi automatic rifle is a very efficient killing machine as are sawed off shotguns and machine guns. We have effectively gotten rid of sawed off shotguns and machine guns, why are semi automatic rifles different?

Are you saying a fully automatic AK is not an Assault rifle? Or are you saying he was better at hitting his target? Or are you saying he was blocking the exit? Just what was your point mate? Or didn't you have one after all?

OBW Our troops would throw down an M-16, the military version of the AR-15, when they could and grab an enemy AK as it was a much better killing machine. Maybe that lesson from Vietnam never got to you.

As for the argument of there is a black market or smuggling of illegal weapons that's the domiane of the POLICE and they should get the Funding to stop it

It's a stupid silly argument as there is a Black market for everything so buy that Logic you can abolish all LAWS .

A average joe has the right to do his business without the threat of intimidation or threats

This right trumps the right to bare arms

I or others aren't saying change the right to bare arms but expect it to be understood correctly and it's context

Not used to have open slather and to be misused . The Magna Carta is a better description of the 2nd than the wording of the 2nd actually is.

It also forms the basis of why it's in the Consitution

I say grow up Bann the Assault rifle

No

A Ak is deadly but has a propensity to jam as was seem in a vid in the Paris attack

A modern Assault Rifle is much less likely to jam and properly fire quicker .

They were most likely bought on the black market so workmanship may not be top notch

AK-47

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-47

Compared to the AK47 does the M4A1 jam or malfunction when in sand, dirt or water?

Yes

https://www.quora.com/Compared-to-the-AK47-does-the-M4A1-jam-or-malfunction-when-in-sand-dirt-or-water

Most jams come from bad ammo and improperly loaded magazines and poorly kept firearms and lastly operator error.

Even after almost seven decades, the model and its variants remain the most popular and widely used assault rifles in the world because of their substantial reliability under harsh conditions

I suppose I should rate the rest of your gun information as being equally correct.

J.mercer

So a 60 year old weapon is a match for a modern Assault rifle ?

Bought on the black market ?

So make it easer then it is than the black market ?

what your saying so this type of thing can continue ?

The guy was on the F.B.I watch list man twice !! he should never have been able to buy one and at the very least Alarm Bells should off been ringing Loud and clear

Only a will to have your security forces communicate properly is to unify the way they work . Same laws on Weapons

I wonder how many more would have died if he had a another person to help him ?

I'm shore Oklahoma has changed rules and laws after Timothy McVeigh when it comes to getting the components for Bombs !! Just takes a will to want to stop the Mass Murder

Yep Gary I didn't say they are not deadly

There a assault rifle !!

Just the one this guy used was better and newer better built and the Ammo was also of good quality seeing as he didn't buy it from the black market

How many in 1 kill must die before you figure it out 10000 ?

+1

In the countless rounds I've actually fired, only had 1 jam - that was due to a duff round.

Or any rapid fire weapon? (this includes gas, pump & lever actions)

Any half decent hunter or sportsperson doesn't need anything more than a single/double barrel single/double shot or a bolt action repeating long rifle, it only takes 1 shot to do the job cleanly (if you can't/or don't do that, then you don't deserve to own a firearm at all).

Only would be homicidal maniacs need anything more that.

Cheers.

Timothy McVeigh used Ammonium Nitrate (fertilizer) diesel fuel and propane. All of which are still available.
I used to buy all of these in large quantities when I managed our farm in southern illinios.

Recent Jihadists used Hydrogen peroxide, ammonia and the like.

It is naive to assume that passing feel-good, ineffective legislation will stop this type of Islamic inspired terrorism. The embracement of such ideas after the recent tragedy is a red herring to distract the Public from Government weakness and ineptitude in fighting and annihilating Jihadism at it's source and tracking very large threats right under our noses.

If Mateen had been on the No Buy List then what should have happened is that he should have been allowed to buy the weapons and then immediately had the FBI alerted to the fact. If only were they competent instead of wasting their time on politically correct enforcement of "civil rights insults".

If the no buy list were to deny him the purchase than he would know that he is on the list and would obtain the weapon elsewhere. (on the street, mail order, or from his jihaddi friends in Iraq, Syria etc.)

The cat is out of the bag--a few hundred million weapons in the United states --most all of them are semi-automatic and can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger until you need to rapidly re-load another magazine.

How the public think they can protect themself against mass shootings by bying more weapons is beyond me, but there it is...
