For those of us using "optimized" versions aka lunatics, Big PIA! We need to make a stop at every PC and make a change... Yep........but thats the "price" you pay if you choose to use a non-standard app. "Optimized" apps are not set and forget - they take a bit of work to run. |

Hey Eric. When I press the Download link, I can only see version 7.6.22 is available? That is the BOINC version number, and hasn't changed. This news item is about a new SETI application version. For most readers here, SETI@Home version 8 will be downloaded automatically with no action on their part. You, however, are running a version of the SETI programs obtained from a third-party source - most probably, a package known as 'Lunatics'. These third-party packages are supplied and maintained by volunteers (including me), and are not Eric's responsibility. Please refer to the discussions in the Number Crunching forums. A new version of Lunatics will be announced there in due course, but it takes volunteer time to update all the specialised versions, and we haven't quite finished yet. |

Many of us understand things need to move forward with technology but like I said more than a few days notice would have been nice!!! |

These are very bad news anyway. I'm going to be frank here, If your throwing around Lines like that, Then this isn't for you. I find it hard to believe that someone told you to go out & buy it, Advised you to look into a better card maybe, Go buy... no! If there's no GPU tasks for you, then go have some fun & play some Games or something, That's what I do anyway. Peace! |

My first time posting on the forum here... but wanted to chime in with my 2 cents and let all of you that I really appreciate the work and personal sacrifice you all make for these projects. The only project I have participated in is SETI@HOME, but I understand the importance of all the projects you folks support. I have been a strong believer in the importance of SETI so this is where I spend my GPU/CPU power, and I am honored to do that. Thanks for all the outstanding work you folks do. Happy New Year! First post as well and wanted to say thanks to all that put in so much time on this project. I have been crunching off and on for 15yrs and still get excited about why we do this. |

for those with GPU enabled only SETi@home (like myself): - add SETi@home BETA to your BOINC projects - do some work in v8 BETA for GPUs seems like my grids 1.5TFlops are back in action! ;) non-profit org. Play4Life in Zagreb, Croatia, EU |

Wow, some people take this stuff so seriously, never realized! I think 'some people' need to take a step back and look at the real problems with this world or a closer to home. Everything from wars to friends with cancer, flying off about data not being available is a pointless drop in the bucket. Chances are you all have jobs, families, friends and this project is just a 'hobby' (if any of you are getting paid though let me know, i want in!). I have it running on 4 or 5 computers and Seti might cross my mind once a month (and that is to make sure the program is still up and running on each machine). I understand we are all passionate about certain things, which is a good thing, but there are always bigger things to be concerned about, and if not for you then count yourself one of the very lucky ones in the world and smile! |

When I go to here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php It still says 7.6.22 for both the VitrulBox combo and the BOINC only installs. When I go to Help-About in the application, it says I am running 7.6.9 FYI, I am on Windows 10 x64 Will BOINC eventually notify me when I can update, or do I need to keep checking http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php until it shows version 8.0.0 (or whatever the 8.X.X number is)? |

When I go to here: Your confusing BOINC with seti@home. They are not the same. Think of Boinc as the operating system (windows), seti@home as a program (word processor) and work units as a data file (text). It is seti@home that has changed to version 8.00, not BOINC. |

Currently available BOINC Manager (incl. Client): http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php Currently available SETI@home / AstroPulse applications: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/apps.php If you let run stock SETI@home (no app_info.xml file usage (anonymous platform)), BOINC will download automatically the (new) SETI@home / AstroPulse applications (if it's checked in your project prefs). |

No 64-bit version available? Or is there no 64-bit of SETI just BOINC? Honestly I've never noticed, don't have my nose buried in SETI. LOL who I am kidding, I absolutely have my nose buried in it. Been running SETI almost since it was released to the Public. If I could afford one of my Company's Servers, I'd buy one and run SETI on it. Imagine running SETI on a system with 256 Processors, 2 Terabytes of Memory and with 4 Petabytes of Data Storage on SSD drives. This is one of the most ground breaking projects EVER in the history of the PC and to be a part of it is a great honor. When my company worked on The Human Face of Big Data, http://thehumanfaceofbigdata.com/ , I submitted two Ideas for the Book: My churches work on Family History and Genealogy, who has THE BIGGEST private collection of Ancestral Data, and SETI. SETI was chosen to be included. IF you don't feel that this is an honor and privilege, why are you dedicating multiple computing systems to it? This isn't a Game, like World of Warcraft, this is something much MUCH bigger. I reject your reality and substitute my own boincstats.com |
