Those defective and deadly flying thingies that keep falling out of the sky on our ADF personal are finally and permanently grounded and to be scrapped (well who would want to buy 1?).

Australian Defence Force MRH-90 Taipan helicopters involved in Whitsundays crash retired early.

And then there's those Russian planes. Did someone forget to connect the brakes?

Dramatic footage shows moment Russian-made jet explodes at Mali airport.

Cheers.

Sadly yet another fatal bus crash has occurred. :-(

Bus full of schoolchildren tips over on motorway.

A 14-year-old girl and a bus driver have died after a school coach was involved in a horror crash on a busy motorway in Britain on Friday.

Shocking photos show a coach carrying pupils from two secondary schools in north-west England overturned on the M53 towards Liverpool.

The crash happened just after 8am near Birkenhead, Merseyside, during a busy rush hour.

Witnesses said they watched kids escaping from the smashed rear window of the bus.

North West Ambulance Service has declared a major incident......

Pedestrian dies after being struck by Brightline train headed to Orlando
Sheriff Ken Mascara at an afternoon briefing identified the deceased as being homeless and who reportedly has family in Lake County.

Mascara noted “strong evidence to suggest that he may potentially have committed suicide in this incident.”

*** Link to Wikipedia article about the Brightline train service
Brightline's maximum operating speed is 125 mph (200 km/h), the lowest speed to qualify as high-speed rail by international standards. Trains cover the 235 mi (378 km)[1] route in as little as 3 hours and 25 minutes,[4] which is an average speed of 69 mph (111 km/h).

That one appears to be a case of the plane touching down around 3/4 of the way down the runway (reportedly 500m from the end of what is meant to be a 2,300m runway). There was no chance of it ever stopping & it should have done a go around before even touching the runway.

It would certainly be interesting to hear the Cockpit Voice Recorder recording for that flight.
Visibility clear to the horizon, runway dry, no sign of issues with the aircraft till well after it overran the runway. That was a crash that just shouldn't have happened at all.

Russian military aircraft measure altitudes in meters. At Russian military airfields, approach charts surely state runway lengths in meters. I have no idea how they handle international flights or whether they convert heights/lengths on paper notes or in their heads.

But landing 3/4 down the runway when visibility is clear sounds stupid, regardless of meters or feet.

[EDIT:] It's said to be a civil version, IL-76TD, registration EW-412TH owned by Belarusian airline Ruby Star carrying out (Cargo?) flights worldwide. So maybe it had a reconfigured cockpit with instruments showing "feet".

3 tonnes of 4 wheel drive versus 100+ tonnes of road train isn't going to end well. :-(

Child and multiple other people dead at scene of Stuart Highway crash near Pine Creek, police say.

Going by the witness marks questions have to be asked as to why the 4x4 suddenly wound up on the wrong side of the road.

I wonder if this will come with all the Tesla bugs as well, or will they invent new 1's?

More details of Apple’s iCar have leaked, including its staggering price tag, as the release date of the new product looms.

At least your speed is in front of the driver instead of being stuck in the corner of a cluttered central tablet.

...Well it is an Apple product so do you really expect it to conform to normality?

(UK will only have the left-hand drive version)

A bus crash in a Venice suburb kills at least 21 people

Breaking story, so more news to follow.

And another transport problem. Driver hits woman in S.F., then Cruise driverless car runs her over; photo shows victim trapped
The driverless car not only hit the woman, it parked itself on top of her leg.

Update on Venice bus crash from BBC, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-67001518
At least 21 people including two children have died after a bus crashed off a flyover near the Italian city of Venice and caught fire, officials say.
The bus broke through a barrier and plunged near railway tracks in the district of Mestre, which is connected to Venice by a bridge.
It had been rented to take tourists between Venice and a campsite in the nearby Marghera district, reports say.
Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro said a "huge tragedy" had taken place.
"An apocalyptic scene, there are no words," he said on X, formerly Twitter.
The incident happened at about 19:45 local time (17:45 GMT) as the bus was reportedly taking tourists back to the campsite.

Some reports say the bus was powered by methane gas and fell onto power lines and caught fire.

"The aggravating factor was methane and the fire this spread rapidly," said Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, warning that the death toll could rise.
Regional governor Luca Zaia said the dead and injured included people of "various nationalities, not just Italians".

IMHO, Driverless cars are not ready and not safe for the "live" open road and they "can't think" if their Internet connection is not working or their "vision is obstructed (put traffic cone on front hood).

AI/Computers can only do what they already know about. GIGO == Garbage In Garbage Out.

A bunch of fools with their mega buck cars. :-(

Two tourists have died after a Ferrari and a Lamborghini smashed into a camper van.
And just before they hit the van, another idiot in their super expensive toy just missed running in to a motorcycle head on.
Solid white line & one idiot after another is overtaking the car with the dash cam.

Lots of money, but no sense between any of them.

3 idiots, a motor scooter, no helmets, run red light and meets car. Then 1 does a runner.

Man leaves mates at the scene of a wild scooter crash.

I wonder if any of them felt like superman as they went flying through the air.

[edit] And an update on rich fools and their exotic toys.

An Indian billionaire is facing jail after he was involved in a horror supercar crash – alongside his famous Bollywood star wife – that killed two tourists.
