I can sort of consider why Mitsubishi would be a popular brand car here, but the rest?
KIA would be bigger than Mitsubishi here these days, even though most of the Mitsubishis are their 4WD/SUV models.
But Citroen & Peugeot are very minor players here.

But their recall?
The French brands say the timing belt may degrade due to aged engine oil and if left unrepaired it could result in reduction of braking performance.
I have no idea how that would impact on braking performance, but if the timing belt goes while the engine's running, especially at high RPM- you can kiss your vales, pistons & con-rods goodbye along with the crankshaft.
Bye-bye engine.

Some PSA engines are designed so that the valves and pistons can't collide in the event of a timing belt failure, but would I trust it to work that way every time??
As for loss of baking - has someone made a translation error, or is it lazy journalism?

Now that's a fine.
Driver fined $195,796 for speeding in Finland.

A driver has been fined 121,000 euros ($195,796) for speeding in Finland, where such penalties are based an offender's income.

It is not the first time Mr Wiklöf has been caught speeding.
In 2018, he was fined 63,680 euros. And he had to cough up 95,000 euros five years earlier.

Seems even those numbers won't deter the criminal.

Yet another truck versus train incident.

North Carolina freight train collides with semi-truck in dramatic video.

And yet again the truck lost.

Finally some good news after an airplane crash almost 8 weeks ago that killed the 3 adults on board the 4 kids have been found.

Missing Kids Found Alive After 40 Days in Amazon Rainforest.

In a miraculous story of survival, four children—including an 11-month-old infant—have reportedly turned up alive after escaping a plane crash and surviving 40 days on their own in the Amazon rainforest.

The four children survived a crash in Colombia that killed three other people, including their mother, on May 1. When authorities arrived at the scene to survey the wreckage of the downed Cessna 206, they found the children missing, kicking off a frantic search to find them.

On Friday night, after a whirlwind of conflicting reports about their survival, Colombian President Gustavo Petro said the children are now in safe hands.

“A joy for the whole country!” Petro wrote. “Four children who were lost for 40 days in the Columbian jungle have turned up alive.”

Petro’s tweet includes a photo that appears to show rescue crews with the missing children, surrounded by jungle.....

Yeah, i just read about that truck fire.
That is going to cause some serious problems for quite a while.

While i don't know that area, i suspect it will be the same as here when a main route is closed- all the other secondary routes that are normally very busy, will become pretty much permanently clogged up, and the tertiary routes won't be much better as people start going through residential areas trying to avoid the mess on the secondary routes.
Absolute nightmare.

More bad transport news- Ten people die in Hunter Valley bus crash, 11 others taken to hospital.

The coach rolled on a roundabout near the Hunter Expressway, said police.
Police said 10 people have died but the toll could rise, with 11 others taken to John Hunter and Maitland hospitals and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. The other 18 passengers were uninjured.
The bus driver — a 58-year-old man — was taken to hospital under police guard for mandatory assessment.

Another update:

What's the bet that the driver had a beer or something and as usual many people were up dancing in the isle (I know that they do this from a lot of personal experience) while others wern't wearing their seat belts, then in the foggy conditions the driver may have been going too quickly on the roundabout when he's hit the inside of it (something certainly went over it by the drone pics this morning) throwing everyone over to the passenger side of the bus resulting in it tipping over?

The MBTA, which oversees the nation’s oldest subway system as well as commuter rail, bus and ferry service, has come under intense scrutiny in recent years for a series of safety issues that led to a federal review and orders to fix the problem. It has recently been plagued by slow zones, the delayed delivery of new vehicles and understaffing.

Just your typical Russian? Well they don't have the highest usage of dashcams in the world for nothing.

Russian Ships Collide After Captain Gets Drunk.

Two oil tankers collided in Russia's Irkutsk region on Tuesday after a captain became intoxicated, authorities said, causing a spillage of fuel into a local river.

Igor Kobzev, the region's governor, introduced a state of emergency in the Kirensky district after the vessels collided.

It's unclear how much fuel spilled into the Lena River, but one oil tanker that sustained significant damage was carrying 138 metric tons of gasoline, Kobzev said. The governor said that according to preliminary information, 60 to 90 tons of fuel could spill into the river—the world's 11th longest.

"At the moment, the oil slick has passed a number of settlements," Kobzev said after an operational meeting. "The situation is complicated by the fact that the river is navigable. In addition, there are settlements downstream."

The press service of the regional government said that the captain of one of the ships was intoxicated, Russia's state-run news agency Tass reported.

Kobzev also said medical tests showed that the captain was drunk.....

Investigators say a pickup truck was traveling north on County Road 143 when it struck a deer standing in the road. Pete Davidson officially charged with reckless driving after crashing his Mercedes into a Beverly Hills home forcing it to be DEMOLISHED
Davidson, 29, was driving the vehicle through the Flats neighborhood of Beverley Hills on Saturday March 4 around 11pm at 'high speed' when he lost control of the car.

His girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders was also in the vehicle.

The Mercedes jumped the curb and hit a fire hydrant before it crashed into the side of a nearby house, law enforcement said.

The home had to subsequently be completely demolished due to the crash impact and the homes foundation was taken down to ground zero, pictures have revealed.

Bus driver transporting Pittsburgh Pirates charged with DUI
A bus driver hired to transport the Pittsburgh Pirates from Chicago to Milwaukee was stopped during the journey and charged with DUI.

The trip began in Chicago on Thursday night after the Pirates' 7-2 loss to the Cubs before an Illinois State Police escort noticed erratic driving and put a stop to the ride.

The driver, of Shelby, North Carolina, displayed multiple signs of impairment, according to police, and was arrested after a trooper initially requested an ambulance out of concern for a medical emergency.
