This time it is a bus that was too tall for the bridge, and 10 people are in hospital. BBC - Ten in hospital after bus roof cut off in Glasgow bridge crash I see that there is no shortage of height and width warning signs. |

I see that there is no shortage of height and width warning signs. The BBC report shows that - in the direction of travel - there is an earlier bridge with much greater clearance, which confuses the signage. But a bus of that nature is usually driven along pre-planned, well-understood, known safe routes. What on earth brought it to these bridges? |

When my grandfather did much the same it was a poorly/hurriedly planned diversion due to someone dropping a bomb on the correct route. These days I suspect a number are due to poorly planned diversions around roadworks..... Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

... poorly planned diversions ...Probably planned using Google StreetView by somebody in head office, hundreds of miles away and with no local knowledge. |

Or planned by the local traffic arm waver who needs to get traffic moving quick and only thinks of cars. After all no reason to send cars down a route that add another couple miles so they don't go under a low bridge. Then again lots of action at http://11foot8.com... poorly planned diversions ...Probably planned using Google StreetView by somebody in head office, hundreds of miles away and with no local knowledge. |

A company spokesperson said: "We are working closely with the emergency services at the scene and our thoughts are with those involved in the incident."Maybe spend a little more cash on holding a "refresher" course every year informing all drivers to use the Mk1 computer. Average double decker buses are 4.38m high with "highbridge" buses 4.56m. Neither would have cleared that bridge & to be honest, I think that a "highbridge" bus would be dodgy going through that 1st bridge with just a 1" gap. |

Too many miles and hours breeds too much complacency... And then there is the endless train of freight on our motorways (freeways) ...! I'm surprised we don't suffer more 'incidents'... Stay safe?! Too many miles and hours breeds too much complacency...False. Many like myself (worked with enough of them) normally averaged around 1,750 miles a week. Practically of of us knew where the bridges on our route that were too low for our vehicles & worked around them. The height of the majority of the vehicles I drove often was 3.42m. You would be surprised at how many bridges that are lower than that. |

Some people can do some strange things on the road. Trampoline filmed being driven on top of car down main road in the US. Cheers. |

Thanks Doc, needed a good laugh this week. The good thing about technology today is how often stupidity is captured for all to witness. The only downside is... ...god help the world if she has kids. |

The train companies don't give a **** Miles-long trains are blocking first responders when every minute counts Nationwide, longer and longer trains are obstructing rural intersections, preventing paramedics from getting to emergencies, including a baby who died after his mom waited and waited. |

The train companies don't give a **** Profit, more profit. And they got an exemption for lawsuits for that blockage. |

I can sort of consider why Mitsubishi would be a popular brand car here, but the rest? Though any safety issue for any brand does need fixing. Multiple car brands issue urgent safety recalls. It maybe only a small number here, but what about overseas' markets? |
