Looking at a photo of the damage, it looks like the left hand wheel snapped off, and the right hand wheel collapsed from the increased load on it.

Ryanair damaged front landing gear.

I wonder who was in charge of doing that.

Those flying fan thingies just don' stay up if that fan don't work.

ADF to investigate after helicopter ditched near Jervis Bay in counterterrorism training.....
Army insiders claim troubled Taipan helicopter fleet did not receive crucial software upgrades.

Military figures claim a software upgrade for the European-designed Taipan helicopter was not installed on Australia's entire fleet despite warnings it could be needed to prevent possible engine failures.

Last month's emergency ditching of an MRH-90 in Jervis Bay has put renewed scrutiny on the ADF's management of its Taipans and prompted several defence insiders to come forward to the ABC with concerns.

Defence is refusing to comment on the "ongoing" investigation into the March 28 incident, but several figures familiar with the Taipan fleet say a simple IT patch could prevent the potentially devastating "hot starting" of the aircraft.....
It has to may you wonder why?

Cheers.

You have to wonder what the truck driver was doing.

Bus and truck collide on Snowy Mountains Highway at Providence Portal.

Thankfully no one was seriously hurt there which I can't say about this next 1.

A man has been charged after five people were killed in the worst crash in Victoria in 11 years, when two cars and a truck collided near the NSW border.

A Mercedes driver has been charged with dangerous driving causing death after allegedly running a give way sign before five people were instantly killed in the deadliest crash in Victoria in 11 years.

The horror smash saw two cars and a truck collide near the NSW border on Thursday.

Victoria Police said the accident occurred at the intersection of the Murray Valley Hwy and Labuan Rd, in the town of Strathmerton, at around 2.30pm.

It is understood a car hit a ute, which sent it careening into the path of an oncoming B-double truck......

I'm really feeling sorry for the truck driver- not a snow ball's hope in hell of him being able to do anything to even minimise the impact. Driving along with the road in front of you clear, then next thing there's a car right in front of you.

More is revealed about that day.

The man charged over a crash that killed five people in Victoria’s deadliest crash in a decade was speaking with police just three minutes before the tragedy, according to court documents.

Christopher Dillon Joannidis, 29, was pulled over and fined for speeding in his white Mercedes Benz on Labuan road at Strathmerton in northern Victoria, and allegedly returned a positive reading for cannabis on a preliminary test, documents tendered to Shepparton Magistrates Court on Friday reveal.

Mr Joannidis, who had been travelling with a 20-year-old female passenger was handed an infringement notice for driving at 118km/h in a 100km zone.

A follow-up test was negative and he was permitted to leave at 2.18pm, the Herald Sun reports. That sample will be sent for further testing.

Police told the court that three minutes later, he allegedly ran a give way sign, and his car slammed into a Nissan Navara ute with five people on-board who were instantly killed. A dog in the Navara also died.....
And all that was left of the Navara.

Fiery Connecticut fuel truck crash on I-95 bridge leaves 1 dead, others injured

Gov. Ned Lamont said that a passenger vehicle tire blew out and created a "tragic" incident that saw the tractor-trailer overturn and erupt into flames as roughly 2,200 gallons of fuel spilled onto the roadway.

Officials said that the truck driver died, while adding that people in the passenger car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

One Dead Following Violent High Speed Crash In Boyle Heights
LAFD responded to a crash on the south lanes of the 5 & Whittier Blvd
Firefighters arrived and located a vehicle that struck the guard rail and flew down an embankment
The car rolled and eventually landed against a block wall

I have no clue how someone could get going that fast in the middle of the notoriously slow East Los Angeles Freeway Interchange.

The school bus driver needs a psych evaluation
Colorado bus driver faces 30 child abuse charges for intentionally slamming on brakes
The video, obtained by 13 Investigates from inside the bus, shows at least 30 Castle Rock Elementary students' faces hitting the seats in front of them from the brake check. The incident occurred on March 1, 2023, when the Castle Rock Elementary School students were riding the bus home.

According to the report, the bus driver, 61-year-old (name redacted), told Douglas County School District officials he was sorry for his actions. However, he did defend his actions. He claimed he was trying to "educate" and "control the students" riding the bus.

American Airlines plane catches fire, lands safely after bird strikes engine after takeoff in Ohio
Airport officials said American 1Airlines flight 1958 landed safely, no one was injured in the incident and the airport was shut down for only a few minutes while the plane returned for the emergency landing. An airport spokesperson couldn't say how many passengers were on the flight.

The plane left about 7:45 a.m. and was headed for Phoenix when birds struck the engine shortly after takeoff. Airport officials couldn't say how long the plane was in the air before rerouting back to the Columbus airport, but it didn't make it out of the Central Ohio area.

Princes Highway traffic slows after van, V/Line train crash at Yarragon in Victoria's east

Looking at Google Earth it's easy to see what the problem is- traffic lights right at a rail crossing, and it requires enough intelligence from the driver to not park on the tracks while waiting for the lights, even though there is the usual sign saying "Keep tracks clear."
I've no doubt this van driver is the type that when there is a section of road with "Keep clear" painted on it for access to a driveway, that they decide that it doesn't apply to them & they'll stop right in the middle of it (or leave enough of their @r$e hanging out that it can't be used anyway).

Back to those flying fans, just not for what you think.

Army grounds helicopter units after fatal crashes.

The U.S. Army has ordered a 24-hour safety stand-down of its aviation units next week following two deadly mid-air collisions in the last thirty days, including Thursday's crash of two Apache helicopters in Alaska that killed three soldiers and left another injured.

That crash followed the deadly March 29 collision of two HH-60 Blackhawk helicopters near Fort Campbell, Kentucky, that killed 9 Army soldiers aboard.

"Army Chief of Staff James McConville today ordered an aviation stand down following two deadly helicopter mishaps that claimed the lives of twelve soldiers," said an Army statement. "The move grounds all Army aviators, except those participating in critical missions, until they complete the required training."

"The safety of our aviators is our top priority, and this stand down is an important step to make certain we are doing everything possible to prevent accidents and protect our personnel," said McConville, himself an Army aviator.....
A problem of situational awareness?

Airline passenger gets arrested for taking a "Vampire straw" through Boston Logan TSA checkpoint
“Velez told CNN that while vampire straws may be permitted in checked luggage in some states, they are illegal to carry in Massachusetts,” according to the report.

“Massachusetts State Police told the outlet the straw is prohibited under a state law which bans carrying specific “edged instruments” such as daggers and stilettos."

/sarcasm on/ Now I know that daggers and stilettos are considered DANGEROUS WEAPONS per the TSA... and not try to bring them on a plane /sarcasm off/
