DC rail conductor arrested after allegedly operating train while intoxicated
The incident occurred Dec. 23 and was made public in several news reports this week.

The unidentified operator was also reportedly unresponsive to Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority's control center for about 45 minutes.

Officials at the center tried to reach the train operator at roughly 10:44 p.m., 12 minutes after the train missed the stop in suburban Virginia.

The Metrorail operator will not be returning to his job, the spokesperson also said. "He will not be allowed to return to work per Metro’s rules, which strictly enforce drug and alcohol policies.

Too bad they can't revoke or suspend is vehicle driving license too since he probably was over the legal limit for that too.

FAA releases audio from deadly Wings Over Dallas Air Show crash between air boss, pilots
“Fighters will be a big pull and up to the right,” was the last transmission from the air boss before the crash at 1:21 p.m.

A moment of silence in the audio occurs before the air boss, with urgency in his voice, says “Knock it off. Knock it off. Roll the trucks. Roll the trucks.”

He tells some aircraft to hold position and seemingly diverts others to Lancaster Airport nearby as emergency responders and fire engines began responding to the crash.

FAA investigates after two planes nearly collide on JFK runway
The close call happened on Friday at John F Kennedy International Airport, between a Boeing 777 headed to the UK and a Boeing 737 headed to the Dominican Republic.

One plane was about to take off while the other was crossing the same runway.

The collision was averted when an air controller noticed the two.

Using an expletive, the air traffic controller attempted to stop the Delta aeroplane as it was preparing to take wing.

... The FAA said the planes were around 1,000ft (300m) away from each other when the Delta aircraft stopped. It has since launched an investigation into the near collision.

You have to wonder how some people get a driver's license, from a Corn Flakes packet? (or whatever the equivalent is in Cambodia)

Train destroys truck trying to beat level crossing.

Though I wonder if the trucks cab flipping forward on impact is a new safety feature.

Meanwhile in Alaska.

Average speeds topped 100 before 133-vehicle pileup on icy I-35W in Fort Worth. REPORT

The average speed exceeded 100 mph on Interstate 35W just as it began to rain before a deadly February 2021 pileup that killed six, according to the North Tarrant Express Mobility Partners. The National Transportation Safety Board released hundreds of pages of documents on Wednesday related to its investigation into a 133-vehicle crash on an icy patch of southbound TEXPress lanes near Northside Drive in Fort Worth. The report included a document submitted by the toll road operators.

Driver escapes injury when tree branch impales windshield

Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Police in New Hampshire said a driver was lucky to escape injury when a massive tree branch impaled the windshield of their car.

The Lee Police Department said in a Facebook post that the driver was behind the wheel during Monday's winter storm when they heard an "odd sound."

The tree branch came crashing through the windshield seconds later, police said.

"We are happy to report that there were no injuries," the department said.

The post said the incident should serve as a reminder to avoid road travel whenever possible during severe weather events.

I hope that after his day in court this moron learns his lesson.

Driver on learner's licence caught at 253kph on Adelaide's North-South Motorway.

The cost that his car will take to fix will be big a good slap in the face for starters, but what will the magistrate will hit him with?

Thankfully the motor gave out before he killed anyone and he missed 160mph mark.
