Boeing may have hit some turbulence.
”Boeing whistleblower found dead.”

Lots of questions for investigators. Security cameras? Dash Cams? Contents of the alleged note? Forensic evidence, prints, spray patterns, telephone logs, associate and friend interviews? The list will be very long. After all Putin's friends keep walking out of windows several stories high.

Points more towards a maintenance problem at United ATM.
United's fleet is becoming increasingly outdated as the delivery of new 737 Max and 777-8/9 is delayed for years. Their mechanics have to pay particular attention to vintage aircraft in the fleet. So they can't spend their time on few years old 777s.

Article is a bit over 1 year old but research is continuing...
Could hackers take control of the computer(s) on the cars, traffic control system(s) or both causing a traffic jam and/or major accident involving multiple vehicles or even running over pedestrians?
It seems to me that not only is politics losing touch with reality, but that practical sciences are also ignoring the actual problems out there in the real world and instead increasingly are doing research for their idealized model world only.

These 3 Texas cities among worst in U.S. for driving deaths at night, study shows
Corpus Christi, Fort Worth, and Austin Texas are among the top 10 most dangerous cities for nighttime driving in the United States, a new study found.

Conducted by Florida Personal Injury Lawyers, Anidjar & Levine, the study revealed that 74% of fatal collisions happened at night in Corpus Christi, 72% in Fort Worth, and 71% in Austin between 2017 and 2021.

San Bernardino, California ranked at number one on the list for the study that used National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data to determine the number of fatal accidents between 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The data was filtered to include only cities with 100 fatal accidents or more.

72 year old thrown from golf cart
While driving up a steep hill on the golf cart path at The Club at Sonterra in San Antonio, the cart tipped backward, throwing the 72-year-old and another passenger from the vehicle, police said.

The two were riding on the back of the cart, according to police.

The cart continued to roll onto the man and the other passenger, killing the 72-year-old and seriously injuring the other passenger, according to police.

... Police say a mechanical test was being conducted on the cart at the time of the accident because a similar incident had been reported.

The Club at Sonterra did not immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment.

Police said there are no pending criminal charges.

Hopefully everyone could be rescued from the water.

The tragedy of each of these old bridges that disappears is that you can see the masterful achievement of the engineers in creating a durable, cost-effective bridge with minimal use of materials. Modern bridges rarely have the grace and lightness of older bridge structures. Unfortunately, reinforced concrete is often cheaper than steel.

[EDIT to add:]My comment is inappropriate now. The worst is to be feared for those who have fallen into the water.

Hmm.....
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c724q55eeg9o
There's a lot of wrong things in this story:
Three people on a bike (of any sort) designed to carry only one.
Three people on a bike that's being "controlled" by an underage child.
Possibly using an e-bike that was illegal to use on the highway in the UK.
Very sad for the families of all those involved.

Looks like someone may have gotten port and starboard mixed up.

Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge was hit by a containership and collapsed.

It's NOT the first time that ship has been involved in an accident:
From the USA TODAY newspaper website Baltimore bridge collapse wasn't first major accident for giant container ship Dali
The ship in Tuesday's crash, Dali, was involved in at least one prior accident when it collided with a shipping pier in Belgium.

That 2016 incident occurred as the Dali was leaving port in Antwerp and struck a loading pier made of stone, causing damage to the ship’s stern, according to VesselFinder.com, a site that tracks ships across the world. An investigation determined a mistake made by the ship’s master and pilot was to blame.

No one was injured in that crash, although the ship required repair and a full inspection before being returned to service. The pier – or berth – was also seriously damaged and had to be closed.

... The report provided no other information about the deficiency except to note that it was not serious enough to remove the ship from service.

Same Master?
Maybe, but different pilots.

And in this case, it appears control of the ship was lost prior to the collision- loss of steering according to some reports.

All that and more.

Lost power, a mayday call and the crash that brought down a Baltimore bridge

All before they recover the "black box" recorder. It was the local pilots who made the mayday call - presumably via their own direct comms to harbor control - with enough time to spare to stop traffic approaching the bridge.

Another fatal coach crash
from the article:
FlixBus, founded in Munich in 2011, runs a network of long-distance coach services in Europe, America and Asia.
The crashes are not related to the accident location, the Autobahn A9, a busy motorway (three lanes each direction) connecting Berlin and Munich.

There are hardly any quality criteria for bus drivers, training standards... health checks, or quality management. Price dumping and profits. There's no lower limit. The business model works well. Flixbus has pushed out almost all competitors and achieved a >90% market share in Germany. (Hello, antitrust offices, you still exist?). It's a relatively new market. Until 11 years ago, commercial bus services within a scheduled route network (fixed daily/weekly schedules opposed to occasional or chartered bus traffic) were not allowed due to a pre-WW2 law in Germany that shields formerly state owned railways against unfair competition.

The European market consists of some dozen countries, some wealthy, others still relatively poor. You will always find drivers who are willing to drive under precarious working conditions. There are hardly any controls by authorities or police. It's an almost non-regulated market (not much different for continental road freight transport). That's why we enjoy cheapest prices in Europe, far below low cost airlines (e.g. Ryanair) or railways. That's how it should be. The only thing missing is a legally regulated safety standard, as is common in railways and aviation.
