Moment tyre flies off vehicle flipping second car on Los Angeles freeway
A car was flipped by a tyre that came loose from another vehicle on the Ronald Reagan Freeway in Chatsworth, Los Angeles earlier this month.

Video recorded by a Tesla dash camera shows the tyre fall off a vehicle and strike an adjacent car, causing it to flip into the air.

In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department said there were no major injuries following the incident.
I just saw that video on another site- talk about incredibly lucky to be able to walk away from that, and incredibly unlucky to have been there just at that time.

That wheel just didn't like that car for some reason, why would it hit the car twice otherwise?

Cheers.

I have seen a wheel become detached. Fortunately I was behind it far enough to simply watch. As there is little force acting to slow the gyro it does travel for some considerable distance. In the case I saw it eventually went down an embankment into brush. The vehicle stopped way before the wheel.
Check your lug nuts.

Tesla drivers. check your steering wheel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0IqXEVmDe0
And your seat belts.

US opens investigation into Tesla seat belts coming loose.

The investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration covers an estimated 50,000 Model X SUVs from the 2022 and 2023 model years.

The agency says it has two complaints from Tesla owners that the front belts weren’t sufficiently connected at the factory.

Documents posted by the agency Tuesday say the belt linkage and pretensioners, which tighten the belts before a crash, are anchored to the seat frames.

Both complaints allege that the linkage and pretensioner separated from the frames when the vehicles were driving and force was exerted. Neither incident involved a crash....

Another 2 of those flying fan thingies come to a bad end.

Several dead after military helicopters crash in Kentucky.

Several people are reportedly dead after multiple military helicopters crashed in Kentucky Wednesday night.

The crash, which involved at least two helicopters, happened at about 9:30 p.m., according to WKDZ Radio. The helicopters were military rotorcraft from Fort Campbell.

The exact number of deaths has not been confirmed by authorities, but an unconfirmed report stated nine people were killed in the collision.

The crash happened between Bobby Light Road and Lancaster Road in Trigg County, per the aforementioned local news station. That county is located just west of Fort Campbell in western Kentucky and is home to about 14,000 people.....

Now this is a pothole- 40 metres long, 15m wide, and 9m deep. Almost three times the volume of an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Floodwater flowed over Booligal-Gunbar Road for about five months, and this was the result...

The repaired road.

7,000 cubic metre pothole repair job.

"Self driving" vehicles still have a problem "seeing correctly"

Cruise recalls 300 robotaxis, issues software update after crashing into city bus
GM’s self-driving unit Cruise filed with federal regulators a voluntary recall to update the software in 300 robotaxis after one struck the back of a city bus in San Francisco.

Cruise said in a report with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration that it initiated the recall because in rare circumstances the software could inaccurately predict the movement of “articulated” vehicles.

Some people have parking skills while others don't, but I'm not sure what this is.

South Australian man reported for dangerous driving after leaving car on tree stump.

Cheers.

Yeah, reversing the car up there certainly took some doing.

Even harder to drive it up there - just look at the front-end carnage.

Yes it could've went in forwards and then rocked back onto that star picket to stop it falling off. ;-)

There was certainly some artistic driving involved to get it up there. LOL

Cheers.

That's similar to a delivery van near here that recently mounted the pavement AND a 1 meter high iron bollard...

Then a breakdown truck tried towing it off only to find that the bollard had ripped right though the crankcase and was very firmly impaled into the gearbox...

How expensive is the services of a crane and a replacement van?...

Very silly...

I do wonder if the driver was "rushing ahead" on clicking on his drop-off electronic recording device rather than looking where he was going to come to a stop...

Drive safely?
