Did the BBC News site deliberately juxtapose these two images?

Did someone forget to put the bungs in?...

Or the door seals failed for the at-water-level tender garage...

Or the boat was too heavy and too low in the water when they opened the big door...

Myself, I'd insist that area was secure behind internal watertight doors with a strict procedure the internal doors are closed and locked before the big door is opened... I guess that is not done on such boats?...

A friend of mine worked on a super yacht for a short trip (Italy to Monaco). She was the deck officer, and one of her duties was to ensure that the boat ramp doors were secured when not required, and ALWAYS when leaving or entering port or when bad weather was nearby. Her biggest problems were the owners how would try their very best to open them moments after they had been secured. Hint, NEVER cross a red head, especially one of the female persuasion - they have have red hair for a very good reason....

Not a good place to breakdown.

Eurotunnel Passengers Left Stranded Under Sea Between England and France.

What began as an ordinary rail trip under the English Channel turned into pure claustrophobia nightmare on Tuesday when a train came to a stop and passengers were left stranded for hours in a narrow concrete pipe under the seabed....

Well, that's the intended deign procedure: there are three tunnels, two for trains, and one for emergencies and service vehicles. They're all hermetically sealed from each other, and have airlocks to prevent smoke and fire crossing from one tunnel to another.

What seems to have been the problem here is that they spent far too long trying to get the failed train restarted. When that failed, they eventually went to the emergency fall-back procedure of sending a relief train, and transferring passengers from the failed train to the rescue train.

The train that failed was a car transporter: at this time of year, mainly families coming home from holiday. Passengers spend the crossing sitting in their own cars. The rescue train was a freight transporter: even more spartan, with no creature comforts at all. I bet that added considerably to the volume of complaints.

You'd have thought that they could afford to keep a basic passenger train, with seats and room for hand luggage, at each end for planned emergencies like this. But British customer care and customer service seem to have gone out of the window in recent years.

What about a post-mortem toxicology report?
Do they not do that in the UK as part of a deadly crash investigation?
I know that is usually defacto standard here in USA.

They do. But the drivet isn't dead (yet....).
Samples will have been taken for all sorts of trsts including drugd and alcohol. Policy is not to release results during the investigation unlrss an arrest is made.

Don't loose or severely injure your hand...

Ouch...

Looking at the curve taken, that is one ludicrous very high speed curve that totally ignores the curbs, pavements, sign, and everything else...

I suspect that the Tesla charging parking area is about a metre below road level...

The poor sod merely sat there charging up his car was either very unlucky in being there, or very lucky to be still alive, depending upon viewpoint.

Whichever way... The supersonic supercharged Range Rover somersaulted off the railings and the Tesla to then be in free flight over everything else to land on one end to impact the underground train platform.

Ridiculous. Mindless.

No need for drugs.
Just add one tosser to a high powered vehicle. If their luck runs out, then people get injured &/or die.
Booze and drugs just make it more likely to occur.

Upon further consideration... Does the rear-end damage to the Range Rover suggest a flying cartwheel rather than a somersault?

... Sadly killing the rear passenger upon impact with the train platform.

Not down to you Martin. :-)
Have issue with the reporting on this.
Evening Standard 22/8
They have set up a blue tent in the Tesla car park, not on the tracks, so maybe the woman fell out before.
That tallies with the report where I grabbed the posted photo in reply to Wiggo.
That report stated that a Tesla taxi driver heard the crash while charging his vehicle. When he turned to look he saw what he though was a large amount of rubbish & on closer look, saw that it was human. The sight shocked him & he said that he won't be visiting that charging station again as he didn't want to be reminded of what he saw.
Also in that report was a photo of the area & it did have a blue tent set up.
All reports since have been updated...
Edit.
from My London.
They stated that the dead woman was in her 20's.

You didn't have to look further than the second image in my post https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=78677&postid=2105496#2105496 The blue tent is along side the charging bay, next to one of the Tesla cars that was hit.

Sorry WK. Should've scrolled up further. Was actually looking for another photo from earlier reports. It showed a closer shot of the tent & the damaged Tesla on a recovery vehicle.
Also another report stated that paramedics attended to the woman while she was still in the car, subsequent reports state she died at the scene.
Reporters - Sheesh.
I believe the taxi driver.
Seeing a mutilated body is not a pretty sight.

Not wearing a seat belt?...

Or is there even more damage to a side of the Range Rover that has not been shown?...

Still all sadly mindlessly ridiculous.
