Most bashed bridges list has been released by Network Rail https://www.aol.co.uk/news/most-bashed-rail-bridges-revealed-095146586.html Old enough to know better(but)still young enough not to care |

LOL. Know 1,3,4,6 & 8 on that list. However the 2nd photo in that report is I'm pretty sure, the junction of Coddenham Road/Lion Lane. Problem is the photo shows it as 2.3m (7'6") when it is 2.5m(8'0") & mentioned on an earlier transport thread. As for bridges, Montague St Bridge in Melbourne is a good one. Check it out on Youtube. |

Some people can be very lucky. Woman 'miraculously' survives after car was crushed from behind by semitruck. A woman in Washington is recovering after walking away with only "minor injuries“ from a horrific collision Tuesday morning.Cheers. |

Some people can be very lucky. How about amazingly lucky? No point her ever buying a lottery ticket again, she's used up all of her remaining good luck just surviving that, let alone being able to walk away from it. Grant Darwin NT |

I miss read the headline as "Driver to be banned for.....". Having witnessed a fatal crash in which the driver was talking on his phone not watching the road one can imagine my thoughts on this subject. This is terrible in germany too. I would never pick up my phone whilst driving. My new car has Android car but i seldom connect it. Only on long distance drives. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Better late than neverI'm surprised that their use isn't illegal there already. Here in Australia it varies by state, but basically unless it's in a cradle you can't use it- even when stopped on the side of a road (although i'm not aware of anyone being prosecuted for that. It's not unusual to see cars pulling over to the side of the road & someone on their phone when you go past them). But if you're using it while stopped in traffic- you're nicked. It also applies to laptops, tablets, DVD/media players & smart watches. Personally i don't think they should be allowed to be used even hands free- i don't know what it is about phones but people seem to give all their attention to the phone conversation and not what they should b concentrating on- driving. Having use a few new cars recently i have to say i hate with a passion these new entertainment/navigation systems- where instead of having a button for each major function you've got a couple of buttons (if that) to select all the hundreds (thousands?) of possible functions, or even worse a touch screen that still uses a few touch points to select, select, select, select, select then eventually adjust what you're after. Unless they're fully voice controller i think they're actually worse than phones (unless people are texting, the most moronic thing to do while driving). Grant Darwin NT |

WTH do you switch off that you don't use? & can you? |

Missing the point: Man in Germany drives to driving test BERLIN (AP) — A man in Germany has discovered the hard way that it’s best to get a driving license first before trying to use it. |

Oh them low bridges. The eye-watering cost of repairs on one of Melbourne’s most notorious truck traps has been revealed for the first time. It’s the infamous bridge that has become notorious for truck crashes, hoarded its own fan pages and developed into a longstanding – albeit affectionate – joke for Victorians.Cheers. |

Derbyshire Police's roads unit suggested he buy a lottery ticket. I would say if he was a cat, he just used up 8 of his 9 lives. ![]() ![]() |

Derbyshire Police's roads unit suggested he buy a lottery ticket. Or is that the deadly joke? That his driving was so bad that it was a lottery as to whether he was still in this world... And such drivers are schedule harassed, sleep deprived, bored mindless hypnotic, and unhealthily waiting for their heart attack or stroke from all the Greasy Joe's rushed food stops... And... We give them 48 tonnes at 100 kmh... All on less than the minimum wage... ...! Stay safe folks! Get your facts straight. No HGV 1 driver is on "minimum wage" Secondly - 48 Tons? Really? What is the maximum weight a HGV can carry? |

Very good to know to not know everything! By God, any omniscience must be bored out of their existence!! :-P :-) So... What's the deal with the expensive dearth of drivers and drivers quitting the job for a better life? Too many unpaid hours?... Serious question: What is the energy content of 44 tonnes @ 100 kmh? How much TNT is that equivalent to? Stay safe folks! Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Serious question: I can't be bothered to work it out but Kinetic Energy = ½ mass * velocity². don't forget the units are joules, kilogrammes and metres/second The energy released in an explosion of 1 gram of TNT is approximately 4000 Joules |
