Speeding

... Possibly, M25 crash: Lorry suspended from bridge over A2

That looks rather unusual and unexpected, and on a straight stretch of road...

The skid marks suggest the cab was dragged around in an arc... Were the brakes working only on one side of the trailer?

I guess that's our equivalent of the Ever Given!

Stay safe folks!

Photo seems to show at least one tyre is partly off the rim. Can't tell if that happened first or last.

Would be interesting to see any video of it occurring. It's as though the cab jack knifed, not the trailer. The trailer kept going straight ahead as the cab jack knifed, and the trailer moving forward resulted in the cab swinging around backwards & leading the trailer off of the side of the bridge.

There are skid marks on the road before the start of the clip.
As for the tyre, I think that happened during the collision with barrier.
Thankfully the barrier held the rig on the A2 as it would have been a far worse crash if it hadn't.

Mmmmm...

Thanks for that.

Annoyingly, as always, you don't get to see the full picture for what lead up to the swerving and crash.

My suspicion is that the trailer was empty or tail heavy, and that the driver lost control from a gust of wind or due to driver induced oscillation whilst changing lane...

Drive safely!

Yep.
As Rob mentioned, you can see long skid marks right from the start of the clip, but it's difficult to distinguish between them. So it looks like all trailer wheels locked up- and stayed that way. Just before hitting the barrier the prime mover wheels locked up.
The prime mover jack knifed, and the trailer just pushed it around till it ended up where it did.

We have a little bit of a mess to clean up here this morning.

Goods train derails in NSW near Wagga Wagga.

Rail crew were left “shaken” after a goods train derailed near Wagga Wagga on Thursday morning.

Fire and Rescue NSW confirmed one locomotive and five carriages were affected, with a “small leakage of fuel” detected.

“The train’s crew are shaken but OK,” a spokesperson said.

“The cargo is not hazardous and the train will be righted this morning.”

You can't fix stupid.
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2021/apr/19/two-die-in-tesla-crash-no-one-in-drivers-seat-police
Ages back after some earlier Tesla accidents i downloaded the owner's manual just to have a look at it.
The number of times it repeats that the Auto pilot is not there to drive the car for you- it's just an assistant. ie- it's there to help you, the driver. You still need to drive the car, it'll just help you out.
But as you say- there's no fix for stupid, other than a permanent one such as occurred with these two.
Luckily they didn't take anyone else out with them.

High speed, twisty windy road, noone in the driver's seat...

Were they doing a thrill-seeking or a show-off-the-tech 'dare'?...

WWII-era plane makes emergency landing — just feet from Florida beach
Footage by WFTV showed beachgoers — including young children in the sea — staring calmly at the single-engine TBM Avenger as it flew toward them Saturday around 20 feet from the shore.

Even this wouldn't be enough for quite a few drivers these days.
