Dumb motorist or reckless truck driver? Terrifying moment B-Double overtakes on a wet highway before hitting a car and dragging it along the road for 100m - but who is at fault?

Even looking at the full clip (as it was posted on that site) doesn't show you enough time before the accident to be sure (how quickly was the truck catching up to the car?)- but it looks very much like the truck was in the RH lane to overtake the car, and changed lanes well before passing the car. DId the car speed up from being much slower? More earlier footage is needed.

Southwest Engine Explosion Forces Emergency Landing; 1 Dead.

A passenger died and seven others were injured after the engine of a Southwest Airlines jet blew open in mid-air, sending debris into the plane's body and bursting a window.

Passengers described hearing the Boeing 737-700's left engine explode about 20 minutes after takeoff from New York's LaGuardia Airport Tuesday morning. The plane violently depressurized when the window broke open.

The pressure change apparently pulled a female passenger partially out of the jet, according to a family member of another passenger.

Drunk driver clocked at 143 mph, leads cops on dangerous chase, officials say

A drunk driver was clocked at an astounding 143 mph as he led Georgia police on a dangerous high-speed car chase Saturday morning that ended with the suspect and a police officer in the hospital.

Alpharetta officials said an officer on patrol on Old Milton Parkway spotted in his rear view mirror a white Mercedes 300 speeding towards him. Seconds later the car sped past the officer, who clocked the vehicle going about 100 mph.

Australian tourists escape bus fire on way to Gallipoli Anzac service.

A group of young Australian and New Zealand travellers have lost all their belongings after a bus taking them to the Anzac Cove Dawn Service at Gallipoli burst into flames.

The 43 passengers were four hours into the journey in Turkey when smoke started belching from the engine and they were told to get off.

Transporter driver forgot to lower top tier and hit the overhead warning gantry.

Guess someone's not going to get his new Range Rover.
There was another car in front of the range rover that was also damaged.

Your FedEx might be delayed
http://abc7.com/traffic/big-rig-blocking-metro-tracks-210-fwy-lanes-in-pasadena/3394063/
PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) --
An overturned big rig is blocking Metro tracks and lanes on the westbound 210 Freeway in Pasadena Thursday morning.

California Highway Patrol officials responded to the crash, involving two FedEx semi-trucks and a car, shortly before 1:30 a.m. near the Lake Avenue exit.

Officials said a car struck a big rig before the driver took off. Soon after, a second semi-truck also crashed at the scene.

One of the big rigs was on its side at the center divider and onto Metro train tracks.

And how much surveillance would you like in your car?

Some news set the Internet ablaze with intractable fronts facing off. When recently the news broke that, as of now, all newly released European cars would have to include the "eCall" emergency system, that was one of those days. While some saw clear signs of an imminent Orwellian future as depicted in "1984", others made a case for faster help and fewer accident victims. And while we're still debating, Dubai has abandoned data privacy altogether. But where does expediency end and mass surveillance begin? Will future cars be traceable with pin-point accuracy in mere seconds?

While working I have been tracked constantly for at least the last 7 years, not only location but speed, acceleration, braking force, centrifugal force etc. camera's also fitted that are remotely accessible and emergency call button is fitted as standard.

Most of this equipment is built into the larger trucks as standard and a lot of insurance company's conditions say that it must be activated and recording at all times.

When you pull into a lay-by to stop for a pee and your phone rings before you have managed to get out of the cab!!!

And they wonder why people don't want to be HGV drivers anymore:-(

They are already in any decent size city. License plate readers at every intersection.

A poignant message

Even if you’re not someone who’s ever been involved in a road traffic accident, I also want you to learn from what’s happened to me – whether you drive, ride a motorbike or a bicycle, or are ever a pedestrian. Slow down. Take more care. Cross the road with full attention.

Tesla driver who turned on autopilot, moved to passenger's seat on highway is banned from driving
Bhavesh Patel, 39, of Nottingham, was driving his white Tesla S on England's M1 highway in May 2017 when he left the car unmanned, Hertfordshire Police said in a news release.

While the car was moving, Patel turned the Tesla's autopilot feature and abandoned the vehicle's steering wheel and foot pedals to slide over to the passenger's seat.

No One Knows How This Car Ended Up Dangling From A Bridge In Toronto
A car was found dangling from a bridge in Toronto, but no one seems to know how it got there or why someone would do such a thing.
Police got the call about the car shortly after 7 a.m. on Wednesday. They found the car hanging from the Millwood Overpass Bridge in the city's east end.

Constable Jenifferjit Sidhu told BuzzFeed News the car had been emptied out and had no engine or license plate. It was also surrounded by caution tape when police arrived. It appeared to be a blue sedan.

There was originally some speculation that this was part of a movie shoot, but police said there were no permits issued for the area.

It's now being treated as a mischief investigation, and Sidhu said police believe it was intended as some sort of prank.
