Interesting. Looking into it further, it is currently expensive.

"it turns out that a Mirai will do roughly as many miles on a kilo of compressed hydrogen as a modern petrol-fuelled hybrid will do on a gallon of unleaded." (Sourced from a review on the Mirai).

The report states that he put in 0.7kg at a cost of £7. So a kg will cost £10 & the car itself costs £66,000.

It will be some time before it becomes widespread & at a reasonable cost, but looks good :-)

I don't see why you say VOSA's paddle has been removed. They had revoked the license and both the transport company and the driver had failed to comply with this - one thing that is not clear is how long before the accident the license had been revoked - a matter of hours then they might not have known about it, but much longer then they were willingly breaking the law.
As to why no bail - perhaps His Lordship had heard whispers that the bereaved families might want an additional funeral to be required (that is in addition to their eight) and His Lordship wants to ensure that a fair trial takes place for the deaths of the eight, not one for the murder of the ninth.

I did state "possibly". You've stated the reason as to why that was.

The Mirai seems to have very similar specs to the Clarity. I think it was James May (yep, the sensible one from the old Top Gear) who called the original model, the most important car for 100 years

Lit cigarette, gas tank leads to Porsche fire
ST. PETERSBURG FL (FOX 13) - A Porsche went up in flames on Interstate 275 on Tuesday night.

Florida Highway Patrol said the driver was traveling on I-275 near 38th Avenue in St. Petersburg. The driver was carrying a gas tank in the passenger seat and lit a cigarette. That’s when the fire started.

FHP shared a photo of the scorched car covered in fire extinguisher foam, and still smoldering from the blaze.
The driver, who was not identified, escaped uninjured, but the Porsche did not.

According to FHP, it’s a total loss.

See the 1st bridge in Barstow CA, while you can, as it is going to be replaced, and survey work has started.

Another 15yo driver.......this time with tragic consequences.

The teenage boy was the only person in the vehicle. Utah law requires drivers with a learner’s permit to be accompanied by an adult.
Utah mom killed, daughters injured when teen boy driver swerves into oncoming traffic.

Sad :-(

"The teenage boy was the only person in the vehicle. Utah law requires drivers with a learner’s permit to be accompanied by an adult, Utah Highway Patrol said."

Same as our laws.

"If you want to practise your driving with an accompanying driver, the accompanying driver must be over the age of 21 and, must hold a full licence in the relevant vehicle category for at least three years."

Yes, but of what use are the laws if some fool ignores them?
That is what make it even more tragic.
The laws were in place to try to prevent such things as this from happening.

What is even more tragic is the system that makes those laws, hand down paltry sentences to those same fools (should they survive).

Especially at that age. Doubt he shall be charged with anything meaningful. And even if he is, as he is not an adult, they won't carry the consequences they should.

Oops, it's always the case with these incidents that the bridge/walkway in question is less than the height of the bus (approx 14'6").

That big red thing is not a regulatory sign although I must admit I would have taken heed of it.

Bridge height traffic signs used in the UK. http://www.ukmotorists.com/lowbridge_signs.asp
