Hi guys, just got a new laptop today , with an amd/ati card....well the amd gpu isn't running most of the time...it says running and the running clock Is running ok , the 'remaining estimate' just stays on 17 mins 43 seconds or 43 mins for a bigger wu and the progress bar stays on 0.0000% all the time.....it's really annoying. I keep getting amd dispay driver stopped working and has recovered.....driving me nuts it is :-( any ideas please ? ..plus the gpu tasks don't seem to be staying in the memory if I exit boinc or the laptop crashes. The only way I can get it to work is by aborting the amd task, which I've done 8 times today, can't keep doing that, and then the next one will work, will do one then go back to misbehaving again ....thanks

What GPU driver do you have installed? Your tasks report Version: OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (1800.11). However I'm unable to find a driver package that contain that OpenCL version.
Based on the versions in the released drivers
15.7 1800.5
15.7.1 1800.8
15.11 1912.5
I would guess you have a beta driver between 15.7.1 & 15.11.

Thanks for the replies guys :-) 15.201.1101.0 the driver, installed august 2015, though this is a new laptop...trouble is , it's a toshiba laptop and it won't let you install drivers :-( plus, I don't know what the hell I've done now but the amd card and the intel one have slowed right up, they're fine at the start , but when they get to 99.500% + they almost grind to a halt and will be stuck on 99.99 % for a couple of hours, whatever I've done , I've made it worse...lol.....still hit and miss with the amd card, sometimes it's stuck on 0.0000% all the time and sometimes it works

Ok that sounds more like vendor specific driver release instead of the general one from the GPU manufacture. Having a machine with locked drivers can be a pain to work around sometimes.
Based on what you are describing now a thermal issue seems plausable. Are you using any monitoring software like like GPUz, HWMonitor, or HWiNFO.

My my notebook with an HD6370m I can run the CPU or the GPU, but the cooling system can't handle both at once.

I saw that, thought "oh a driver cheat sheet", clicked on it, & then smacked myself in the head.
It's more amusing since I just updated it a few days ago.

ok done all I can, keep getting a pop up that says 'seti@home has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware' . Sometimes the pop up says Microsoft windows has been blocked from accessing graphics, but mostly seti. Weird thing is, if I abort an amd graphics wu , it WILL then do the next task fine, but once it's done it goes back to not working unless I abort the task ??? weird huh ?

Have you tried, or are you, running BOINC with admin privileges?

Hello Michael

I am running Version 2015.1012.1345.22882 and I did have problems with letting windows install through windows update.
You need the app versions of Catalyst Control Center for it to work properly
The driver package will say app and the sdk also installed

http://developer.amd.com/tools-and-sdks/opencl-zone/amd-accelerated-parallel-processing-app-sdk/

There is instruction here

Hard to find

What type of Toshiba laptop is it model make and version please so I can check it out at there web site and see why you can't change the GPU driver.

First thought is your hireing it and they do lock them but I need to look at the actual Toshiba web site to tell you how to get around said locks .
