And the 1st ball was right on target.

You beat me to it.
Nice start for the Aussies.
My prediction...
150 all out 1st innings.

And the 1st ball of the 2nd session claims the 5th wicket (60 runs), but the weather that went through here this morning is approaching the Gabba.

150 all out 1st innings.
Close enough, 147 as the thunder not only rumbles here it's rumbling at the Gabba also.

Aussies 343-7.
1-0.
Not good enough for a draw let alone a win.
Love the paragraph header on the day 2 report n the BBC.
"While Broad is away, Warner plays".

Let the barrage begin as the Poms will be fighting for their lives now, but will they survive the day out?

279 runs is required just to make us bat again. ;-)

All I can say is that Foxtel and Kayo Sports should never be allowed to broadcast cricket of any type ever again with the continual failures that have gone on during the Ashes (and it's only the 1st test).

No RTS (aka: Sniko) and no front foot monitoring since the start of the match and the cameras have been falling down all over the place so far today. :-(

These things never happened when an Aussie free to air channel set up the equipment.

Anyhow it's 6-266 ATM.

BTW, Hobart will host the 5th test now.

[edit] 7-273 now.

It looks like the Poms' over rate of 83 overs for the 7hr 2nd day is going to bite them as well as the 9th wicket falls for 296.

[edit] All out for 297 and it's lunch. 8 wickets have fallen during the morning session for just 77 runs.

Well that's a 9 wicket win. I can go and finish my mowing now.

Now the question must be asked, why did Root elect to bat 1st considering the conditions?

Well, the excuses have started.
"Wrong selection" being one of them.
No one has the courage to mention the real one.

The Aussies declared their 1st innings closed at 9-473 and before an electrical storm closed the day's play the Poms were 2-17.

Oh well, that's 2-0 down.
We'll get 185-200 all out so follow on is on the cards.
Have to put up a pretty good show of it in the 3rd test or it's game over!

All out for 236 with the Aussies not enforcing the follow on, but then again it's been a long time since we did, with a lead of 237.

Well the Poms need 468 runs to pull their bacon out of the fire.
