Don't be so sure! I've got two R9 390s, that 'fall over' as soon as any real graphics work (as in gaming) is asked of them! Main-board flash, two different PSUs (HX850 and AXi860) three or four different drivers and......nope! So, back they will go for a full refund and it will have cost me about £40, for the privilege of banging my head against a brick wall - just like many others who bought them. I may well be defecting to the other side! Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

The two I have currently got are the famously voltage-locked Gigabyte 390X. Amongst all the grief I saw on various sites, including AMD's, just about every make was mentioned, but I don't recall anyone saying they had a Sapphire one with problems. I have a feeling that the issue is not the drivers! For the first time in years, I can afford to get lots of shiny new things and then find that the bulk of the cost, went on stuff that has lots of problems and AMD are no closer to sorting the problem out, than several months ago! There also seem to be similar problems with Fury cards - not good at all for AMD. I think my 'patience left the building', when I put the old 5850 back into my partner's PC and it just worked! My new build is now on hold and may end up being Nvidia powered ( 4GB GTX 970?). Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

Thats the reasoni only use Spphire. I never had problems with them. Dirk Sadowsky is running 4 FuryX without issues as well. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Thats the reasoni only use Spphire. I've only gone with Sapphire since ATI stopped making their own cards. The R9 390x I got in October has been working well for me. Hopefully I'll be able to spool it up for 24/7 SETI@home use soon. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Two Xeon's each with 6 CPU-Cores/12 threads, but HT off for faster GPU app calculation, so 12 CPU-Cores. 1 Core/GPU app, so 8 Cores crunch tasks. BTW. Crimson 15.12 is available. (at least for Win8.1 x64) For some minutes installed, but it's the same v1912.5 driver like in Crimson v15.11 and v15.11.1 Beta. So I guess still not 2+WUs/GPU possible, right? |

Mike wrote:(...) It would depend on if the issue was in OpenCL or a different part of the driver. At the very best I would say only 50% chance it will let you run 2 wu/GPU. Probably no holiday present from them for you then :( SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

I just installed 15.12 and BOINC gave me an error about suspicious pulse results when I tried running two WU/GPU. So back to one WU/GPU for now. I'm starting to think that one WU/GPU with 15.12 is faster than two WU/GPU on 14.4. 390x won't work with 14.4, the card is too now. I was running 15.7.1 for a while. |

Hm, OK, .. Mike said he can let run 2 WUs/GPU on his R9 380. With Crimson 15.12 I still can't run 2 WUs/GPU on my FuryX's (I was curious and tested it, but errors happened). What will be with a HD7990 (dual GPU)? Just 1 WU/GPU? Also, but it would be 'faster' (more productively) than with 2 WUs/GPU? Thanks. |

my guess is that 280/380/7990 are somewhat related and you can run multiple wu per gpu my other guess is that 290/390/fiji are related and cannot run multiple wu per gpu on current drivers without errors with 290x i was able to roll back driver to 14.4 and run multiple wu per gpu but it wasn't very fast. it seemed faster to just use a more recent driver and run just one wu per gpu i tried running 390x with 14.4 but it doesn't work, either driver too old or card too new |

Crimson 16.1.1 Hotfix (Beta) is available... With 290/390/Fiji now 2 WUs/GPU possible? Someone tested it already? Thanks. |

Crimson 16.1.1 Hotfix (Beta) is available... I don't use beta drives with with my current release my R9 390x averages 95% usage when running 1 task at a time. MB or AP. Is that the reason why running multi tasks not possible on R9 380 & R9 Fury? SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Crimson 16.1.1 Hotfix (Beta) is available... No. I`m running 2 instances on my R9 380 and have only little issues. On 2 or 3 taks a day buffer seems to break out of a sudden. I could reduce errors with alpha app but i dont think it helps for the 390 and Fury`s. I have tried Einstein for a couple hours and exactly the same happens there. So we are almost certain its not app related. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

There is an alpha app for the ATI? Or are you referring to the petri's for the Duda cards? I haven't tried any of the new ATI drivers. Just been sitting with the 14x release. Of course the Mac has mystery drivers for it, but it seems happy enough with 2 at a time as well. Thanks, Chris |

Crimson 16.1.1 Hotfix (Beta) is available... Ok I wasn't sure if it was because the GPU was already reporting to be fully loaded. So no gain by running more than 1 task at a time. The only other project I have tried on my 390x is Poem@home. It averages about 90%, but the usage is a lot more off/on, like a square wave. Where SETI@home apps tend to run in the 85-100% range. I was expecting to see lower usage numbers for the 390, but I guess it operates a bit differently. Crimson 16.2 Hotfix (Beta) is available... (It looks like still the 1912.5 driver included.) With 290/390/Fiji now 2 WUs/GPU possible? Someone tested it already? Vulkan Software http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Vulkan-Beta.aspx (...) It looks like here a 2004.3 driver is included. (If Gerry is using this software...) From the file names, the Crimson is from Feb/23 the Vulkan from Feb/25. Which software would be better for SETI crunching? The Crimson 16.2 or the Vulkan 16.15.1009 Beta 5 (this is just a part of 'Crimson', right?)? Thanks. |
