Forgive me if this has been asked and answered. I am running OS-X 10.11.1 El Capitan all seti@home data that requires a GPU errors out after a very short period. Boinc 7.6.12 The drivers with El Capitan seem to like the card OK but set@home does not. What am I missing here? Thanks, Stephen Hawkins 73 49 111 01001001 |

Hi Stephen, There is a long thread about this over on Number Crunching where they are discussing this http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=78410&postid=1738642 you might want to read through it and see what they have to say |

Hello, I have the same issue with the 4670 card on an iMac, with OS 10.10.5. In the other thread, one recommendation was to remove file "MultiBeam_Kernels_r2936.cl_RadeonHD4670.bin_V7_14.5.0_10" - which I did. Restarted BOINC. But all my SETI work units (with CPU & GPU) still fail immediately with a computation error. In the event log though, there is no error message, just "Task xyz finished" and "Output file for task xyz absent". In the other thread I cannot post due to missing work credits, which I cannot produce because the whole shebang is not working. Any help appreciated. At the moment, I cannot compute anything for SETI. Latest BOINC 7.612, fresh install. Thx |

A quick look at the stderr for one of your tasks shows the following - I've highlighted a section at the bottom which may give a clue to the source of your problem (I'm not familiar withe AMD/ATI GPU so this may be a red herring) Stderr output Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

While you can't post to the thread Zalster pointed you at you are able to read it - I've just had a quick look and have found this from one of the ATI/AMD GPU Gurus: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=78410&postid=1738642 This doesn't look very promising :-( Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Thanks, Bob, for your efforts. I had already read the whole thread top to bottom, and removing that particular file was the only thing I found that I could try, to no avail. I have now switched off "GPU" in my projects prefs, but so far it looks I do not receive any work units that are CPU-only. Alas, I don't really have any more time to spend on this issue. Thanks - will keep my subscription to this thread in case anybody finds a solution at some point. Cheers- |

I'd also keep an eye on the thread in Number Crunching because a lot of developments are reported and tried there before appearing out here. (On the problem of not getting any CPU tasks - check your options allow CPU processing, I've fallen over that one a couple of times recently) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

WARNING: This application needs newer GPU, at least ATI Radeon HD 5000 needed, exiting ! Only "opencl_ati5_mac" and "opencl_ati5zc_mac" apps say that http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=4581386641 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=4581344768 The plain "opencl_ati_mac" tries to run: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=4580522160 So deleting all *.bin* files may help/test to run at least one "opencl_ati_mac" task  - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |
