Well Clyde I think Obama is out of the picture at the moment what with Russia and now France sending there Aircraft carrier (this is very worrying)

Unless you lot are going to send a lot of troops on the ground the smart thing mite be to let France take the lead (on second thought maybe not)

They don't have a good track record in a war situations .

I keep thinking Rainbow Warrior and , what the hell where they thinking and if they apply that type of thinking to Syria , gowd knows what silly mistake they make next and I'm being nice to them where history is not .

And more carnage by the armies of Lucifer
http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/20/africa/mali-shooting/index.html

Only by a few fanatics, most are into survival only, saying there are armies suggests everyone is involved, McVeigh was a fanatic and a effin Terrorist and He got what He deserved, DEATH.

Agree. But...

ISIS, Al Qaeda, et al, will not be defeated until:

The North African, Near East, Mid-East, Sub-Sahara Muslim Countries. Unite against them, and allow the only effective International Military Force, to unleash its power.

Unfortunately. The Commander-in-Chief of this power. Is living in a 'La La Land'.

Will the present, and future Rape Victims, Crucified Victims, Beheading Victims, Burning to Death Victims, Murdered Victims in Beirut, Paris, Future Cities, Civilian Airlines, et al. Forgive the American people for electing, and reelecting this Uncaring and Deranged Ideologue?

Will the present, and future victims, forgive Western Europe for cheering his election?

Sorry but the US Army is busy recuperating from Iraq and Afghanistan, go find someone else, only US special forces and the US Navy are usable right now.

President Obama is the POTUS and CIC of the entire US Military, show some respect, the US will not do any endless wars.

G.W. Bush started the 2nd Iraq War and the war in Afghanistan, Darth Cheney and G.W. Bush needs to be extradited for War Crimes according to some.

Another incorrect assessment.

Despite large reductions:

Present and recently retired Generals. Disagree with your 'Opinion'.

Yes... I do meet with them on many occasions. Regarding my work with Disabled Veterans.

Yes... I do meet with our men and women, presently Serving in our Armed Forces. They also disagree with you 'opinion'.

I pray that ISIS, and other Islamist Extremists, believe as you do.

Their 'End' will come sooner.

Note: I will 'Show' the same respect to Deranged Obama, as Totally Stupid Bush, Jr.

Your attempt to stifle negative opinions of Bush (why treat him differently than Obama), and his Neo-Con Gang, will not work.

And the wiki says you're wrong:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_W._Bush_and_the_Iraq_War

General Tommy Franks's autobiography states that, while the Afghanistan operation was only a few months old, he was told by Donald Rumsfeld on November 27, 2001 that President G.W. Bush "...wants us to look at options for Iraq. What is the status of your planning….” [1] Rumsfeld demanded Franks—then lead general in Afghanistan coordinating Army, Navy, Airforce and the CIA—provide Rumsfeld with updated Iraq invasion plans within a week.[2] Franks writes, "At the time I was working with… operations staff on air support for Afghan units pushing into the spin mountains around Tora Bora." Id. The Tora Bora fortress was where intelligence placed Bin Laden; December 7, 2001, after Bin Laden was sighted near Tora Bora, CIA operative Gary Berntsen, made repeated requests for 800 rangers to block bin Laden's escape but they were refused.[3] Shortly after Christmas, General Franks (having toured Afghanistan shortly before Christmas) was called to Texas to meet President Bush. President Bush briefly asked about Afghanistan—and whether Bin Laden had been killed. General Franks then fully briefed Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney and the other members of the Cabinet on plans for Desert Storm II, another Iraq invasion, which he had been updating since the end of November.[4]

Beginning at his January 29, 2002 State of the Union address, President Bush began publicly focusing attention on Iraq, which he labeled as part of an "axis of evil" allied with terrorists and posing "a grave and growing danger" to U.S. interests through possession of "weapons of mass destruction".[5] In the later half of 2002, Central Intelligence Agency reports requested by the Administration contained assertions that Saddam Hussein was intent on reconstituting nuclear weapons programs, had not properly accounted for Iraqi biological weapons and chemical weapons material in violation of UN sanctions, and that some Iraqi missiles had a range greater than allowed by the UN sanctions.[6] In particular, the CIA drew together an October 1, 2002 National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction, pulling together the intelligence, estimations, opinions and judgments of 16 different U.S. intelligence services, including dissenting views or challenges to various assertions. Several versions of this report were or have been produced with varying levels of declassification, inclusion of dissenting opinions, and completeness.[7] President Bush received a one-page summary of the National Intelligence Estimate.[8] The question of whether the Bush Administration manipulated or exaggerated the threat and evidence of Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction capabilities or attempted to create a tie between Sadaam Hussein and the al Qaeda terrorists who carried out the September 11, 2001 attacks would eventually become a major point of criticism and controversy for the President.

The Brussels metro is closed till Sunday and people have been told to avoid crowds.
These include shopping centres and concerts, and the authorities have also recommended that large events, including football matches, be cancelled.

Oh do be sensible! if you were the authorities in any country you would be doing two things. Firstly making every effort to minimise any threat to life to the public from terrorism. That means giving sensible advice upon how to avoid possible dangerous situations. Secondly you would be working behind the scenes to minimise that danger via the security services.

It sounds to me that the Belgian authorities may have information that gives them cause to think an attack may be likely or possible. In which case they are behaving perfectly correctly.

You have to balance public safety against playing into the terrorists hands. You could say that the more the public get inconvenienced, the more they will lobby their governments to do something about it.

What planet are you on? Janne was right, they have won. That's how terrorism works. 1st a few attacks/bombs then consistently make threats, thereby tying up the emergency services/armed forces (if necessary).

Forgotten the IRA already have we?

The increased readiness is noticeable on the streets of the Belgian capital, says Tobias Pålsson from Malmö who work for the MEP Anna Maria Corazza Bildt.
Paris is just 1.5 hours drive away and therefore feels the terror attacks very closely.
- It's a little scary when you read in the media that there are people living in Brussels who has been linked to Paris attacks, and that the police have not found the wanted people.
Despite the terrorist threat Tobias PÃ¥lsson and his friends are trying to live as normally as possible. They talk about the increased threat and discuss how they can combat the problem.
- Nobody wants to take risks, no one wants to see a new Paris act. Everyone is on their toes and trips around and waiting for what will happen, but it is all very calm. People agree that terrorists should not be allowed to strike fear in our lives. Then they have won.

What state of emergency means for France

A scary thing is that so few people (20?) can almost close down two major European cities.

I remember London in the early 80's.
Only the day before I came there IRA had hit a pub with a bomb in central London.
We passed that pub with our bus from the airport and that made me wonder.
But London didn't close down the city because of that.
Business as usual...

oh btw.
I was at the local store this evening and met some muslims in their 20's there.
One wearing a hood and a black mask hiding his face.
His companions was not masked but should I worry?

The fear mongers are doing a very good job selling fear. They have so many convinced if a jihadist lays a glance upon them they are dead. Sounds about the the fable of Medusa.

The British have more backbone than many in this world.

True. The British are "used" to terrorist attacks for decades.

I do agree that we cannot surrender to The Terrorists.
But...
The Jihadists are a far greater threat, in 'Orders of magnitude', than The IRA ever was.
Therefore... Our 'response' must also be greater in 'Orders of magnitude'.

'Orders of magnitude'?
As far I know more people have been killed by IRA then by muslim extremists in Britain. But not by magnitudes.
If you look at all other European countries there is not so many people killed by muslims in terrorist attacks that you could say that is in orders of magnitude.
Daesh has now perhaps killed about 100,000 persons in the world, the very most of them in the Middle East.
Anybody know how many Daesh has killed that is non-muslim?

Britain is to buy 138 stealth fighter F35 jets in a £12bn deal that will treble the firepower of the UK’s two new aircraft carriers and put the country on a “full war footing” in the Middle East for a generation.

George Osborne reveals today that the centrepiece of the government’s strategic defence review, to be unveiled tomorrow, will be a commitment to give Britain the world’s second most potent carrier strike force after the United States. In an interview with The Sunday Times, the chancellor said Britain should put aside its qualms about military intervention and be prepared to “project our values” around the world.

+100

Hmmm, 2 things wrong with that statemet: - Previous SDR scapped our carriers leaving Britain without any air cover/strike capabilities at sea until 2020 at least. Secondly, it was Britain "projecting" its values on the world that caused this mess in the first place.

I know which planet all of us are living on, unfortunately I can't speak for some individuals.

You can't speak for no one but yourself, time you did that.

British taxpayer will like this:)
New US fighter jet on course to becoming ‘one of history’s biggest white elephants’
The UK considered buying 150 F-35s from the US, but not one plane is combat ready as costs soar.
The F-35 is still far from ready to fly in combat and the cost of a single jet has risen from £33m to £87m!
Still engine problem.
Lighter-weight pilots face a “high” risk of danger, and the risk is deemed “serious” for mid-weight pilots, according to an internal risk assessment of the problem with the ejector seats.
The pilot helmet that cost more than $400,000 have problem with a jittery image.
Tests has shown that old F-16's are more agile and can outmanouver F-35.

Even in the US the project is not liked because of the rising costs.
Donald Trump said that if he would become president he will scrap the project.

Good luck UK and back to Paris.

Forgot to give link to sources.
It turns out the Marine Corps' new F-35B joint strike fighter jet isn't as battle-ready as officials claim, according to a report published by a government watchdog group.

I still ponder whether these extremists are acting completely on their own or are they being manipulated by an outside entity or entities that stands to profit from the results of their actions.

They are simply religious extremists Bob, nothing more.

Like any organizer of a religion, they seek to fleece the flock they create. If in their case that is four wives and a bunch of slaves in a harem or a personal power trip, it doesn't matter.

I don't think there is any corporate interest being served, except the arms dealers.

We should all remember than a lot of Daesh fighters are well educated and I'm wondering if it's part of the strategy to get us to turn on innocent Muslims and then that will feed there propaganda machine and things will escalate .

These nutters I believe are trying to bring on the "End of Days " B/S as it is in the Koran

The west I fear has become very predicable in our actions and they are playing on that .

France now Belgium declaring Marshall law is what they want us to do as well as ostracise the Muslims .

The French and Belgians should not be declaring Marshall law .

I did expect the French to do that thou , they tend to over react and then when it goes wrong pull out and say "US , we had nothing to do with it"

AKA: Africa and the foreign legion and what has happened over the years there let's hope they have learnt
