I weep a bit as well.

I guess it is bound to be so.
We, and all of the people and artists we grew up to hold in high regard are slowly reaching the age when we have to go.
A sad reality of life.

Maybe Santa will put this under the tree:

http://www.mozart225.com/

That would give me plenty to listen to. :~)

Thing is, though, I'm pretty particular to certain recordings, and every musician or orchestra has a different way of interpreting and playing something, and that's why I generally don't like to buy mass marketed volume sets like this.

Mine too.
"My hands felt just like two balloons."
Actually they have felt that way for more then 20 years.
Since then I can't play the guitar.
Well, my neighbours don't complain anymore:)

Thanks for the links.....not previously familiar with either artist.

Meanwhile, back at the kitty ranch...........

This popped up again on my iPod today at work.
I have always loved her beautiful voice.
Theresa Brewer.....Till I Waltz Again With You.
I had to stop and turn it up a bit and devote the three minutes it took to listen to it once again.
I closed my eyes, and she took me back to my youth when I first heard the song.

Meowsigh.

Jeff Beck did a tribute concert to Les Paul in NYC at the Iridium. Rockabilly legend Imelda May killed it on "Walking in the Sand".
Imelda puts true heart into this song at this performance. I watch it (sometimes with my eyes closed), about every six months.
Notice how she jumps in on the first line and Beck wasn't even quite sure she was ready.
May's vocals are choice and Beck's picking is pretty tasty as well.

For a little picking on the vintage Les Paul and another Imelda May "feeling blue" song.

Thanks for the links, JumpinJohhny and janneseti.

Hard to find many that can match Jeff Beck's prowess on a guitar.
And Imelda May brings an amazing performance to anything she tackles.

As for Nessun Dorma.....LOL.
Very interesting performance, but I'll stick with Luciano Pavarotti's take on that one.

Meow.

Such a wonderful soul.
I am sorry at times, that I bring strife to the forums rather than the beauty of the human soul that he could. And did.

Life is so cruel at times, and yet, as he pointed out, so beautiful when it all comes together.
I have known and touched so many lives.
Some do not forgive me, for I have been cruel at times.
It was never my intent.

I simply picked up on the way life is, and cannot voice it the way that Joe could.

So I come off rude and crude. Such is my station in life. A little cross that I bear upon my shoulders.

Dunno what it is, but Something's Comin' On.

Initially appearing as Jeff Beck's Bass player, Tal Wilkenfeld is an amazing talent.

Tal solo on 5 string bass doing Leonard Cohen's Chelsea Hotel...........

As a half century aspiring bassist, I REALLY appreciate her work..........a capo on a Bass?? Amazing.
