If you like old big band/swing music, give this a listen.
This stuff is just delicious.
A guy at work was playing this and I had to go over and check it out.
Most of these are fairly new acts.
I really did not know that there were this many bands reviving the swing era.
Bands, solo vocalists, and vocal groups.
There is a lot of talent here. And I am liking this a LOT.

From youtube..................a 60 song playlist.
Best Modern Swing Bands.

Kitty auditioned, kitty approved.

OK, Mark, how about this? A favourite of mine.
Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive!

Absolutely. Yes indeed. Big band is great stuff! I have an old Time/Life record set that I bought on subscription years ago with nothing but the big bands. That is great listening too.
Used to be an old AM radio station here that programmed all big band all weekend long. I would tune it in on the old tube radio console that my grandparents left me. Used to go to bed with it on, and the sound of that old radio just fit the music so well, you could drift off to sleep pretending it was so many years ago.

Interesting little musical journey through time.

One of my favorite old blues based rock bands.
The Nighthawks.
This is an extremely well recorded live album. I put it up there with J. Geils band's Full House album, which was not engineered quite as well, but the content saves it entirely.
But now, for your listening pleasure..........................
It starts with a jazz number, but picks up steam for sure.
The Nighthawks....Ten Years Live.

Yeah, that would be Jimmy Thackery. A very worthy blues/rock axeman.
He and Mark Wenner (vocalist and harp player) co-founded the Nighthawks back in '72 and was with them until '86, when he started to tour on his own.

This is Jimmy in 2011, as Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers.

Not every day that you find yourself listening to Russian bands. The genre is "atmospheric black metal" - my favourite.
