Other people will have different views on life than you other people come from different cultures than you, other people will have had totally different life experiences than you and will disagree with you.

None of the above makes them inferior or stupid.

Or maybe some should just grow up after all if you make stupid statement you should expect someone to call you out and say your stupid for making the statement in the first place .

Using the N.R.A manifesto is stupid as what they say doesn't even happen in reality like trying to steal a handbag .

Or saying the only way to stop a bad man with a gun is to be armed .

Or a sheriff saying people should arm them self's when the police moto is to serve and protect not cause a panic .

If the police think the family is in danger then you would think the right thing to do is to put them in protective custardy until they catch the people or at least put a police office outside the homes not tell people you have to arm your self .

Cops in America have better things to do than to protect the populace. Their most important function is to use asset forfeiture laws to make money, best done by claiming anything is drug profits.

Serious, cops will not respond to burglar alarms, traffic accidents, or nearly any other call for help. Might as well call the Perth cops from Brisbane. Now if you can say "shots fired" then they will respond. Of course by the time shots have been fired, blood is gushing out.

Now as to your question, why cops, cops are there to pick up the pieces after the carnage and to make you feel safe, but they don't exist to make you safe as that is impossible even in a police state like DPRK who just had a bank robbery! They exist to hopefully catch the crook before he has time to strike again. They also are there to haul off or pepper spray peaceful citizen protesters whom some government official doesn't like by having attention drawn to his corruption.

Of course they also stimulate the doughnut economy :)

BTW 15 minutes in an acceptable response time to a robbery call. Why 15 minutes? Because that is the average time to respond in their last survey, not because that amount of time is how fast they need to arrive to protect life and limb. The latter has no say. But if they arrive "on time" then politicians won't feel the heat for under-staffing departments by 100%.

Everything everyone posts here unless backed up by solid facts (which is difficult to do as there is no 100% reliable source of information on the internet), is just there belief or opinion.

Things that seem stupid in America may well not seem stupid in Australia, and vice versa.

So if people could be a little more tolerant to others views and beliefs.

I was born and raised in South London UK, and even in this small country there are many regional variations in how people do things and what they think is the correct way to behave.

Just post your own opinions in a way that does not suggest anyone not agreeing is stupid and things will be fine.

Saying my country is good yours is bad, is not at all constructive.

I live in the UK and owing any gun is restricted to farmers and a few professionals. I personally do not believe in guns for the masses, however I would NOT for one moment think I can just bad mouth America.

I might suggest that they need to control things a little better, make sure that the people with mental health problems get better care, but not attack a whole country and therefore everyone living in it.

If the residents of the USA on these boards are happy with the gun culture and gun laws where they live then that does not make them stupid, mentally retarded or any other name you care to throw at them.

Please, we are all members of SETI at home here, a little more respect all round would not hurt.
