I kind of agree with Sten. Worst of all
is the fact that in the end it will all
happen again, like next week!

edit:
Oh the pain those people must be in,
we shall be praying for them....

Well, it's useless to discuss it. We all know where even this thread will end up. Same argument as always from the gun crazy lobby. "guns don't kill people, people kill people"

That's the only thing I will contribute with to this thread, apart of course from my condolences to the families who lost their children.

Yes "guns don't kill people, people kill people"!
Another school shooting shocks US. But mass shootings should not surprise anyone anymore, and they will continue to occur as long as so many weapons are circulating.

The right to arms is deeply rooted in American society, and something that arouses huge emotions. To an outsider, it may be difficult to understand, but the right to possess a firearm for personal use is closely associated with a loathing for government control, and equated by many with a basic, individual freedom. Not even the socialist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, a senator from Vermont, has so far taken clear distance from a strict weapons policy, but says that it is one thing for the states to decide, not the federal government.

P.S
Anders Behring Breivik has threatened to starve himself in protest against what he calls "inhuman conditions" in prison after new rules have been introduced September 2, 2015.

Guns don't kill, it's the bullets that they fire that do.
So, to keep the gun lobby happy then permit all to hold a gun but ban the sale
of bullets.

Now, Es. You know better than to bring this up.
Clearly, only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun.
Since people don't change, bad guys are always bad guys and good guys are always good guys.
Bad guys (a.k.a. criminals) are such because they don't obey the laws. We can't expect more (restrictive) gun laws to stop them (the bad guys) from getting guns.

Similarly, Jeb Bush recently admitted he used to be pot smoker.
At the time and place he did so, it was illegal.
Thus, he is a criminal. He doesn't obey law.
Since people don't change, we must accept that, as Jeb will break all current laws and the new laws passed by Congress, he is unfit to be the President of the U.S.A.

We must accept random shootings if we expect to remain a free society.

For the last 30 years, 569 people have died from mass shootings. That's about 19 people per year.

Every year, more than 300 people die from drowning in a bathtub; therefore, we must ban bath tubs before we ban guns.

Every year, more than 500 people die from slipping, tripping or falling; therefore, we must ban floors before we ban bathtubs.

Every year in America, more than 10,000 people die in drunk driving crashes; therefore, we must ban cars before we ban floors.

Guy who is now Brutus you keep posting the same tired old litany, and using straw man arguments to justify it.
Doing the same thing over and over will continue to get the same results. That is a good definition of insanity.

Doesn't sound much like a free society to me if one concideres it acceptable that to remain free you must also accept the potential to be killed by a mad gunman.

Wow, that's some big bath for 300 people to die in it at the same time, right? Oh, you were talking about individual cases of death by bath and comparing them to cases of mass shootings? Clearly a fair and balanced view of the data.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

No, it's a definition of being neurotic. These areb't exactly the same. (Since that phrase is so oft-repeated as well, I felt it was time to point this out.)

..and not to mention that considering how many people actually use baths compared to how many use guns, its still comes out in the bath's favour.

Not forgetting that no one walks into a school and tries to mass bathe other people.

I was forced to bathe as a kid in school in the early 60's.
That was VERY inhumilating.
I remember one of the other guy forced to bathe who was a gypsy as well...

So it was a terrorist attack then , a lone wolf attack . Is not the right to bare arms so good anybody can get guns and use any excause they wish .

I was wondering when this would start to happen . Now watch things go from bad to really bad seeing as guns are so easy to get .

And to think the nutcase whom held up the Lynt caffee only had a very old shotgun and not much ammo , wonder what would have happen'd if he was able to get a assault rifle and enough ammo , say what a lot of people would have died .!!

That's why we have good gun laws so that doesn't happen .

Now if we can only train the swat team to only shoot the crim and not the hostages there would have only been the gun man and the manager that would have died .

Internet? That was before my time.
My father was an officer in the Royal Navy and he kept his service pistol at home and both I and my sister played with it.
Anyway. Using a gun to kill somebody seems rather stupid to me.
To defence it's useless.

Cheers Glenn:)

You missed one.

On-duty police officers have shot and killed more than 700 people this year - Sept 17 2015 therefore by your rules - ban the police.
